Is this spyware????

I found a program to get rid of spyware and adware called Ad/Spyware Terminator (http://www.009soft.com/products/kill-adware-spyware.htm). I don't have adware or spyware on my computer so i can't tell if it works or not and I don't know if i should download some adware or spyware to test it out. The other thing about it is that it's such a small program. I can't also find any reviews on it so I don't know what to think about it. So, does anyone know about this program? If it isn't spyware and really works it would be great because it's very fast and sucha a small program makes it attractive. Thanks.

I'm not quite sure about "Ad/Spyware Terminator", so I can't comment that it's good or bad about the program. There are tons of free programs out there that you can install it to scan and remove adwares, spyware, trojans, etc. However, you can try to download these below, and of course they're all "free" and really good to have with your computer. I have them install it on mine and run them on a daily basis. The following is what I use and it seems to be doing a decent job afterall.

Ad-Aware SE Personal - from Lavasoft, this tool is really good and a must have (free)
Microsoft AntiSpyware - from Microsoft, it's good to have (free)
CCleaner aka CrapCleaner - another good little tool to have (free)
Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 - another good tool to remove adware & spy (free)
TweakNow RegCleaner - a good tool for cleaning invalid Registry and other spam files. (free)

 

amg0314 EVERYONE has spyware on there machine . Its just some are alot worse than others. if you arent surfing porn or anything you can get by with ad/adware ,spybot and Mirosoft AntiSpyware (which are all free) if you need something better (the ones you pay for) spysweeper,pest patrol are both good. HighJackThis is a great program BUT be carefull what you delete with it or you will wipeout stuff you dont want to ,so have someone read the logfiles Before you delete stuff it brings up if you arent sure.good luck

 

the easist way to stay away from spyware is to stay away from IE, it is a spyware breeding ground. I find the MS antispyware very sorry and not worth the download, the only thing I like about it is that it has a spy check option that can check your machine at a certian time of the day everyday.

IF you just stick to FireFox and run Ad-Aware and Spybot at a fairly consistant basis you should have very little spyware. ever since I started using Firefox, I had little to no spyware.

Also dont forget to delete the temp files and cookie for your IE browser because that is where spyware likes to hide. also, if you can avoid it, try to use search engines like google, yahoo, as little as possible because that is where they like to leech on to your PC with certain Keywords like hotels, search, cars, insurance, games, etc.
