i have been given a laptop to look at as i know a little more then the person who owns it, she said her problems started when she upgraded it to windows vista ultimate, she says "the laptop does wierd things when online (i have not experienced anything like that yet though) but what i am experiencing is that it is running really slow and the apperance on the desktop and start menu is identical to windows 98! the spec of the laptop is; dell inspiron 1520 windows vista ultimate, 32bit, service pack 1 CPU= intel celeron 540 @ 1.86ghz RAM= 1.00 gb originally the laptop did come with windows basic on it. my hunch is that vista ultimate is too much for the laptop and thats why it is running really slow but will that explain the wierd happenings when online?? any help would be appreciatted!!
vista drivers link http://support.dell.com/support/dow...D=INS_PNT_PM_1520&os=WLH&osl=en&catid=&impid= Specifications link http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1520/en/om_en/html/specs.htm#wp1102222 get more ram to at least 2gigs so vista will run faster.
thanx for the quick reply ddp, i have been informed she dropped it down 2 windows 98 so that vista runs quicker! would it be better if i done a system recovery an kept vista basic on it an increase the memory, or keep the ultimate and increase the memory, also will the 2gb of memory be ok 4 the cpu?
A better title would really be "is fista compatible with ANYTHING" .. and my answer would be no. try 7 .. apart from the drm garbage involving the signing of drivers it's "supposed" to be "better" .. I will believe that when I see it run anything like properly.,. maybe in 2 years.
