If I upgrade to windows 64 from my current version is it going to carry over all my drivers needed from the windows 32 bit system? I want to try windows 64 but I am unsure as to if I should stay with the regular windows xp? I don't really care for vista to much but I would like the 64 bit version if it's worth getting.I just want to know what people think of the windows xp x64 version.

I have XP 64 , no real problems except some lazyass driver development by HP and a few other companies. Printer cant be installed cause HP is dragging their feet hoping me and everyone else with the Deskjet 3845 just give up and go buy another HP printer (newer model with x64 drivers). Too bad that isnt going happen HP :p

Aside from the pisspoor driver support from some companies (HP, Canon and a few more) , WinXP 64 is wworht getting if you have the 64bit hardware (which is a given since 64 bit wont install on 32bit processor anyway) Made nosense to me to install 32bit on 64 compatible hardware.

Oh , dont listen to the There's no AV/Firewalls for XP 64 yet crap.. yes there is - AVG Plus Firewall 7.1 .. Its native to x64, works fine. Everything else I use works too (DVDDecrypter, Nero 6.6.x did at least till DaemonToolv4 x64 screwed it up & I hadda uninstall it, CloneDVD2, AnyDVD 5.6.x,FireFox 1.5 Final)

Well, I think I'll just just purchase a copy and hold on it until vista arrives.I know windows vista is geared for 64 bit proccessors. So when that comes out then all manufacturers have to make 64 bit drivers for windows.I would rather stick to windows XP instead of vista because I don't care to have a DRM'ed operating system no matter how nice it may be.So I guess I'll just buy an OEM version of windows xp Pro ver64 until vista comes out or just wait and see what happens. Thanks to everyone and their input on this matter.

*One More question* So not all current software running on windows XP 32 system will be trasferable to the 64 bit platform?
