I sent them another email that it has been 2 weeks since they said they shipped. They said they will research and for me to get in contact with them in a week if I don't hear from them. I think I will be cancelling payment to this place real soon.

Surprise of all surprises - I got home (from picking up my second order from another company) to find my modchip.com order sitting in my mailbox.

Mine supposedly shipped on the 5th, and it most definitely shipped from a german speaking country... I'm surprised that I got mine before you guys - something definitely fishy going on...

Yup got mine also. It's the real magic 3 they also sent wires. Came from France. modchip.com is probably fine for Euopean addresses but I wouldn't recommend it for US.

i was on the extreme mods site mentioned in this thread. i clicked on their instructions for the magic 3 install, and it linked me to mod-chip.com's instruction page. interesting.

Well I wouldn't recommend extreme mods either. The chip is a clone and they don't provide the wires. These small wires are hard to find and are soooo important to getting a succesful mod.
Trying to save a few bucks on the price is just not worth it. If I had it to do again I would use modchip.ca

It looks like modchip.com shipped everyone in this thread on the same day. They claimed different shipping dates for several people a week or more apart yet we all got them within a day of each other. Not likely!

I finally received my magic 3 chip, it took forever but it came. one problem though is that it didn't come in a static bag so you have to be careful when removing it from the plastic bag. can someone verify that this chip will only play dvd -r and not dvd +r, or has someone been able to play a dvd +r using the magic 3 chip?

+r -r does not matter. The only advangate I know of to +r is that they have a better chance of working on some older DVD players. For PS2 it doesn't matter.

Actually, the wire is pretty easy to come by - it's just 30 gauge wire-wrap wire & can be found at almost every local radio shack in 50' spools (in red, white, and blue varieties, no less!). Be sure to mention "wire wrap" because they tend to look at you like you're crazy when you ask for 30 gauge wire. ;) *note - be sure to use thicker wire for the power/gnd leads (20-22 gauge should be fine)

And yeah - I agree with the shipping statement. I don't see how it's possible that they could've all shipped over such a wide range of dates and all arrived within a day or two of one another unless there was some HUGE holdup in imports/exports (doubtful). Sounds like they're taking the old C.Y.O.A. route with all of these bogus ship dates.

Haven't tested the thing w/ DVD+r, only -r. I have read several places where people say that it "might" work on "some" drives, but the majority say that -r is the safest route. Looks like it's unit-dependant on whether yours works w/ +r or not.

Yea wire wrap would work nicely. I haven't thought about wire wrap in years good idea! I don't know about older PS2's and +r dvds. Mine is a v7 and works with either. I can't think of any reason why older units wouldn't work also. +r's are suppose to work better with older dvd players, but maybe there is something different about the PS2's.

    I ordered my magic 3 from EurAsia.nu
I think that its a fake Magic 3 from my knowledge. It is blue. The resistors are black with 333 written on them. And the Big chip in the middle is a "UBICOM". Does any one know if this is a real Magic 3. I guess $32 is too good to be true.

i seem to have a problem far different 2 ne1 else on this thread. It's not that i don't get nething from the site, but rather when i try to go onto the site (www.modchip.com) it just shows me a list of all the files i have in my Kazaa downloads folder. This also happens when i got to www.sweeet.com (sometimes)

    Ne ideas?

MODCHIP.COM sucks. First they sent me the wrong CHIP and a busted dongle and an AR2 INSTEAD of a GAMESHARK (they advertise if you like in the US you get a gameshark). It took about 3 weeks to get to me (camr from france). They shipped out the replacement items which just came yesterday. They suck. No not by from them. Its fine if the shipping is going to take a while but they DO NOT respond to emails and they have what must be a fake 800# on there site cause I called it about 100 times on just about everyhour and no one answered.
