Hello, The other day when I was just checking out what each process was by typing them in google. I found out the Isass.exe is a part of Optix Pro but not much is known about them so I'm not sure if its dangerous or not. Help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you Max
Isass.exe is a virus, but lsass.exe is not. Please notice the second one starts with a lower case L! Because of the fonts used on the system is is difficult to distinguish the two apart. You may need to change the system fonts to something that will allow you to distinguish between a capital I and a lower case l (L). Maybe this site will give you a little more information. http://www.softwarepatch.com/tips/isass.html
in any dir. you can sort by date. the virus should have a newer date, you could also select and check the properties of the file: virus would not be a microsoft file. do a online scan or two also: F-secure scan: http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml uses Internet Explorer only click on the "start scanning button" near bottom of page. click to accept/install the ActiveX applet "accept" the License Agreement, click "full system scan" Once the download of files completes, the scan will begin automatically. The scan may take some time to finish. When the scan completes, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button. ESET online scanner: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/ uses Internet Explorer only check "YES" to accept terms click start button allow the ActiveX component to install click the start button. the Scanner will update. check both "Remove found threats" and "Scan unwanted applications" click scan when done you can find the scan log at:C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt good luck
Ok thanx guys. For now I'm just gonna leave it. It doesn't seem to be doing or effecting my comp. If something happens then I'll take care of it. Thank you Max Kreeger
Personally I would either change the system fonts temporarily or do as echoreply suggested: Just to be on the safe side. If you change your system fonts, they may be changed back after you make sure it is not a virus. That is just my opinion, but then again I believe in keeping my machine clean. The online scan would be a good thing to do, but also running a scan in safe mode will probably find any threats as well.
It only appears sometimes. And when it appears its running at about 776-1,246 K and in the middle it says SYSTEM. Ok I'll do the scans. Thank you again guys Max
Go to Start -> Run, then type regedit to open the registry editor. Now navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes Now double click on "MS Shell Dlg" and put in the font style you want as the value. Then double click on "MS Shell Dlg 2" and again put in the font style you want as the value. After you are finished, restart your pc. Just a note, make sure you enter a font that is installed on your computer, to see a list of available fonts, go to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts. You may also open notepad and try different fonts to see what makes it easier to tell the difference between a capital I and a lowercase L. Take note of your current fonts that are used. Mine are Microsoft Sans Serif & Tahoma. This is so that you can go back and change the files later if you want.
Ok, Changed the font.Isass.exe is lsass.exe. So its the all clear. Thank you very much for your help. Thank you guys again. Max Kreeger
