Can someone help me understand these image files please? I read the "read first" thread which says that a .ISO can be burned to a CD-R and I did that with both Nero and Alcohol. In each case, I then have a .ISO file on a CD instead of my hard drive. So what? I still cannot figure out how to USE the file! If you have these "image" files that you are supposed to be able to burn to a cd and then use in your computer, how can that happen if they are not executable files? What am I missing? I put the CD-R that I burned the file to and all I can do is see the files under "my computer"....but how do I use them? Thanks!
It sounds like you created a new iso disk and then placed the iso in there. Instead try right clicking on the iso, go to open with nero or other burning app and burn and this should burn the iso itself rather then creating a new iso with an iso within. Try this and see whether that makes a difference? You can also use virtual drives that are capable of mounting these images from your harddrive and then running them like Deamon tools without the need of burning them.
Hey, thanks for the reply! So, I use Nero to open it and then? I assume the correct choice is "write" because "burn" is not an option, although the options are on a TAB called "burn"....I have to check boxes and the choices are: -determine maximum speed -simulation -write -finalize disc then, if i choose "write", i have to choose a speed and decide if I want to "buffer underrun protection" and/or "use multiple recorders" And if I do this, then the files within the "image" , including the .exe will be where they need to be to use in the computer?? Thanks again!
