Run ImgBurn and from the opening screen select 'Write image file to disc'.
Load or drag the iso file onto the window, insert a blank and click the large green button.

I used imgburn and did all of those steps initially, but when I tried to load the disc up on my mac the drive kept spitting it out. I wonder if this is because I'm using dvd-r?

what the hell are we dealing with here? .. if it's a mac program you will most likely need a unix/linux system to burn it in a way a mac will accept/understand... if it's a mac operating system install disk you will not be able to burn it using any windoze computer
