I use shrink and nero to put dvds on my laptop in iso form. Would like to convert them to avi to take up less space. What is the best way to convert them? I tried fairuse but it takes hours. Thanks
Am I losing a lot of quality when converting iso to avi? I have a 60" tv if I put these back on disk are they going to look terrible. If the only way to shrink them is to lose quality and not be able to regain that quality, I may just leave them as iso. Thanks again
Correct. You will never regain that quality because it has been removed in order to make a smaller file. You could make a larger AVI which may appear better. I never convert to AVI because I always go for the quality. Some people will argue this point.
So if I'm every going to watch it on a big screen I should leave it as an iso? My next question is what software would let me combine two iso images on one disk?
I copied the 5th element a long time ago into two discs. Shrink couldve put the whole thing on one disk but I didn't know about it back then. How exactly can I use it now to combine the two disks onto one? Thanks again
It only works with the video. It will not work with the menu. Open Shrink. Click on File and then Open disc image. Drag your title(s) over to the window on the left. Then click on Open disc image again and select your next ISO and drag the same way to the window on the left.
I tried that. I drag the first iso over but when I drag the second over it replaces the first. It wont let me combine them. Thanks
You're not doing it correctly. Open first ISO. Click on re-author and drag title over to the window on the left. Now click on File/Open disc image and select the second ISO. Click on re-author again and drag the title to the left. You should now have 2 titles in the window on the left.
Figured out what I was doing wrong. Thanks for your help. One last thing, so I should leave them as an iso if I ever plan to watch them on a large screen tv. Thanks again
You can make a backup or 2 to disc for your tv and you can make AVI files for your PC. The choice is yours.
