I have an .iso that is too big to fit on a single cd and I think I need to put the .iso on 3 cds.

How can I go about this? I tried burning the file with Nero and Alcohol but they kept saying the file is too big.

There is a way round this...

    Download http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/

It will read the iso and list the contents so you can install the program to your harddrive without the need to burn to a disc.

How big exactly IS this file?

Applecorp: your technique technically works but there is a MUCH easier method :p Use a virtual drive (clone, alcohol, daemon, cdrwin, etc) to mount the drive (which also lets you extract) and then you can install :)

Well, I can't remember if I deleted it or not but it was a little bit over 3 gigs.
