so i bought a game cube, a mod chip, a nut driver, a soldering iron, wires, solder - spent a small fortune and when it came to the crunch, i knackered it all up. soldering those tiny little spots is hard, really hard - i hadn't seen a single post from someone who had messed it up so i assumed it would be fairly straight forward but 6 hours of it and i think i might have it and the disc wont even spin anymore. i messed up my cube bigtime all because i can't solder properly. can anyone help in the uk with a shop that will do it? i need help from someone with a clue!
i got myself all worked up last night over this - i broke my gamecube and i took it pretty badly - so after work today i'm going to pawn shop and getting a cheap second hand one and then i'm going to find someone who can mod it for me! i refused to be licked on this, i wanna play my roms and backups and divx files and mp3's on my gamecube! are there any other uker's on this forum? i will pay someone to help me out! it's hard enough trying to find ritek mini dvds in the uk!
matey, get your mini-dvd discs from SVP.co.uk I use them all the time. They sell Verbatim ones at around a tenner for 10 discs and they are printable ones! They also sell many others, like 25 printable Datawrite ones for around a £12 also. Failing that, try Poundland, they sell 4 for £1...bargain!!!!
mike learn to solder, it's really not that hard. pick up an old cheap computer card, sound card video card... whatever solder the crap out of that thing until you know what you did wrong the first time. I learned to do a half decent job in about 4 hours then attacked my xbox after almost killing it. and I've been happy with it since
I think alot of people problem, besides not practicing soldering before hand, is being in too much of a hurry to get it done. This is something that you have to take your time with, double and triple check everything! If it's something you are not familiar with, or never done before, then you need to practice. You can pick up broken computer cards & motherboards for cheap to free, then you just practice soldering stuff on to it. Similiar to how you have to do the mod chip. If you need to solder 5 wires, then practice soldering wires onto things, like how it needs to be done for the mod. Because this isn't a oops, guess i will backup and restart. Because chances are a "oops" means, "shit, I just broke it". Also, search the forums for any posts relating to installing the mod chips, you'll usually find usefull info, just have to dig.
