I have tried repeatedly to install iTunes on my laptop, but it does not work. It installs everything but the database files in "My Music" (.xml, data file). It does not create anything there. For those of you who want to know, my OS is Windows XP SP2, it is a Dell Latitude D505, and Quick Time works just fine.
If you want iTunes to create a folder in My Music with all your songs, you have to open iTunes, go in "Advanced", click on "Consolidate Library" and then click on "Yes". Now you will have a folder with all your songs in My Music called iTunes Music.
I cannot open iTunes at all because of the missing .xml and .itl files in My Music. Is there another way to consolidate my library?
How do you wanna consolidate your library if you can't even open iTunes? What you can do is download iTunes again. All your songs will be back.
I have tried that four times (and yes, I have counted), and it does not install the .itl or .xml files in My Music. Is there a specific download link for these missing files? Or, could there be a hardware issue present?
I just tried to download iTunes version 5, and it did not work, as per usual. This is try #5. I think that I should just give up. But, is there a way I can notify Apple of this problem.
