I just bought an ipod. I went to install iTunes and it wont install, just says "Quicktime did not install properly, iTunes needs quicktime to run." I have QUicktime on my computer, the latest version. I even took it off to try again, and I keep failing. So, instead of even dealing with this I am going to ask if anyone knows of a better program to use for your ipod other than itunes? What is this rhapsody and is it actually better? Are there others? thanks
iTunes Alternatives: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/250743 Rhapsody is pretty cool, I subscribe to listen to music before I buy CD's, but doesn't work with the iPod. The only place you can download music that has DRM is iTunes. Rhapsody works with almost every other MP3 player, but you'd have to check first.
I didn't think there was any iTunes alternatives. I like iTunes the way it is though. BTW What's DRM mean?
DRM [which is probably a hyperlink] means Digital Rights Management, if you click on it it will open a page on Afterdawn that will tell you about it. It basically restricts your use of the music. Like when you buy something from the iTMS it has Apples DRM encoded into the file. This prevents you from using it on another MP3 player, or giving it to all your friends are putting it up on Kazaa or whatever. It unfortunately seriously restricts your rights. So the lesson here is buy CD's! iTunes alternatives were made to help people where iTunes just refuses to work [which is bethie's case] or for people who are looking to manage their music in a different way. They are all pretty good programs that are worth a try.
