I will give you some HUGE advice. Don't install itunes. It is not your friend. It is a parisite that whats you money and makes it difficult to listen to high quality music. I assume you do not have a Mac or that stuff would have installed better than that. You are actually lucky! Google Media Monkey and down load the free version. It is fully ipod compatible. MM is at or near the top for customer satisfaction while the most good you can say about itunes is it is stable and does a job without blowing up. The bad is, it is hugely bloated, painfully slow, the user interface is unobvious to many users and has very few good features. If you have any kind of large library is terrible slow and may actually not be 100% stable for very large libraries. Itunes 'trys' to keep you in a low fidelity audio mode. Many people really don't care about music quality. Itunes is made for them. If you are one of those don't read on, it will be a waste of time. itunes 'prefers' to have you listen to 128 BR audio. This is low quality that they sell at the itune store. That is where itunes makes their money, itunes is free. So you don't think 128 music is junk, anything you touch with itunes gets down graded to 128. Many person belive they can't hear the difference between low quality and high quality music. They probably use itunes. It will strip the fidelity out of good music before it is played. 320 BR and CDs sound as if they were 128s. I know apple has a lossless format so they will have perfect quality. However, they are huge. Otherwise if you have a high quality mp3s, itunes down grades it to 128 as it puts it on your ipod. The ipod itself can deliver high quality audio. It does not down grade the music when it plays. To hear it, you have to toss the crapy ear pods and get good ones. Koss and Philips sell superior buds for cheap. My original buds only lasted about 100 hrs of use before the rubber came off and the buds hurt your ears after that. I have had the Koss for over a year. They have hit walls and have been dropped many times. The STD buds die after one hit. I bought them on ebay for $7 + $1 shipping. The Philips probably has a bit better base and are a few bucks more. If you plan to rip CDs check out Poweramp, if you want the best. I will also add a disclaimer, I have not used itunes in a very long time maybe it has changed but I doubt it.
