::long time reader first time poster:: I apologize if this has been covered but I have been trolling around for a bit and have not begun to find anything useful. I have ripped my Ipod before the down and dirty way, where you get all the jumbled F folders and it has worked beautifully. That is if you just want to use your songs in itunes. Now I would like to use my files in other places, (i.e. Be able to see them in Windows Explorer and know what song they are, and PCDJ) So I got a copy of Anapod CopyGear and Explorer thinking this would solve my problems.... well it did and it didn't. 1 - iTunes won't play ANY AAC files. 2 - there is no artist/album info in windows explorer, all track info is in the NAME column) I'd like to solve this problem without ripping the iPod again, but I will if needed. any thoughts?
The most popular audio managers are Media Monkey and Winamp. They both have free version. Get both of them. Each has strengths and weaknesses. You can't rip an ipod so I have no idea what you did. The fact that you can't play what you got with itunes must mean your music was converted/altered. You normally lose some to a lot of audio quality when you do conversions. Was your music DRMed? If so maybe that was a good thing. Media Monkey and several tag editors will allow you to create file names from your tag data. That is what you need to do. However most tag editors I use will not work with AAC files. Maybe Media Monkey will. Your problem is actually an audio problem not an ipod problem so no one could help you here.
