F**K me I am so fricken pissed of right now. Why is it that after being on a forum for an extended period of time that people go from wanting to help people to simply posting the same crap. You would have all seen it, it's the same standard crap that you get at every forum "have you used the search function" and "have you read what others have posted in this thread". It's sooooooo bloody annoying. Like I want to read 38 pages straight of random assed crap that others have posted especially when most of it doesn't relate to the problem that I might have anyway. What makes it worse is when the answer that you really want is a simply yes or no answer. I mean WTF, the people joined the forums because most of the time they initially wanted help and then they stayed on to offer help to other users.
indeed. Oh and I did consult google on why forum users are becoming increasingly less useful and jaded and it asked me if I had read what others had posted before asking my question. lol
I concur with most of that. It's the way internet culture has gone. I mean I'm hardly ever on here, but I came back today to this in the new Tech Help section. I reckon people get a kick from stating the obvious, sarcastic and pedantic all the time, makes them feel good while making people feel like idiots.
It's especially insulting when your a long time forum user and you constantly mind what you say because you don't want to be perceived as a prick and you don't want to be baned & then some little good for nothing prick has the balls to try and make you feel like a tit just so they can feel validated. Oh also, Howdy Ripper. Things are going fairly ok for me down under. I got shafted by the bastard security company I worked for and have swapped roles with Mrs B. She now works and I get to be superdad. Also moved accross the country and am lovin it. Hows things up over
Unfortunately there will always be "that guy" I suppose. Whatever happened to the good old days back when I first joined?! Sorry to hear about your job but good to know all is well - and with the girls too The big move sounds exciting! Things here are pretty good. I'm officially finished with education now (until Uni), so am enjoying what's left of the summer!
Indeed, tis unfortunate that the "bumhole" attitude has proliferated. It used to be quite pleasant when I first joined. As for the job thang, it's all good. Bound to get stabbed in the back when the boss is a whore and sucks her way to the top & cares about nobody but herself. Not that I'm bitter at all. lol But it's all good, now I get to stay home all the time and do whatever I want it's great
Hi, Lethal_B. I get here about as often as you. I hope all is well with you. This site has certainly changed over the years, hasn't it?
Woah, full double post. Right accross the forum. It's so bright and vivid. But what does it mean. It's just too much. For those who are baffled, let me know and I'll post a link. lol
I'm actually getting sick of people telling me what software to use.back a few months ago in virus section.it was use AVG instead of malwarebytes.AVG failed to pick up the virus aswell(yes real helpful).now im being told use media monkey or winamp instead of windows media player(for the second time). If i asked what software do i need then suggestions would be helpful and only then.I honestly dont mind if the software im using doesn't do what i need to do but it annoys me when people point me to other software when the software ive got will do what i need it to do if i knew how to use it properly.
When a good app is free, and it works right away, and a bad app (WMP) needs lots of configuration to work poorly and unreliably, the only reason to use the bad app is to prove that you can do it; and if you have to ask how to do it, then even that reason goes out the window. Yes, when you have AVG, Norton, McAfee, etc...and your system is full of viruses, but they won't find anything, then you should get a real AV scanner. You are not going to "tweak" AVG into detecting and cleaning those viruses, let alone future ones. You don't even have to buy MalWareBytes to do a scan; the pay version is the same thing as the free version, but with an "always on" scanner. There is a lot of terrible software out there, and a lot of great software that is free...if someone recommends a superior replacement, you should be thanking them, not getting pissed at them. I'm sorry if you wasted your time learning some crummy app like Nero...but you obviously didn't learn much about it if you have not already figured out that it is total crap, easily replaced by better freeware.
yeah i know nero is pretty bad.glad a few people pointed me to better software on that 1.I actually do have malware bytes on my computer.it was installed when i got it.think it was (paula/scum101) that pointed me to using AVG.she seemed to think AVG was a real virus scanner. If someone points me to a superior software usually i thanx them.just don't like being told what to do unless i ask.
Does rule #1 no longer apply? General rules 1. Before starting a new thread, use SEARCH first (located on top of the page..) to see if your question has been answered before! 2. Consider an appropriate forum before posting your question -- look at the forum descriptions on the main forum page first. 3. Post your question only once! Don't cross-post your questions to multiple forums! 4. Don't just ask questions and leave the forum after you've received an answer, try to contribute something as well. 5. -> PIRACY AND LINKING TO PIRATED MATERIAL IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE FROZEN IF YOU DO THIS <- 6. No foul language, insults, personal attacks or otherwise rude messages. 7. Describe your problem specifically -- including the thread topic, because this helps people who are willing to answer to you. 8. Don't reply with an off-topic comment/question -- instead start a new thread. 9. No ALL CAPS MESSAGES or you will be banned (you know, turn the caps lock off before you type anything). 10. Don't post your email address to the forums! Spambots love dumb forum users who post their email addresses to public sites and grab those addresses and you will soon discover the wonders of penis enlargement kits and other really useful products posted daily to your inbox. 11. Don't abuse private messages -- if your post CAN be posted to public forums, POST IT to public forums. Some of our knowledgeable members receive hundreds of private messages daily and might abandon the site if asking questions through private messages continues. 12. Repeated posts to increase total number of posts is not allowed. Especially if your message is the last in the thread, edit it rather than post a new message. 13. Do not "bump" up threads that you want to remain on the first page. Instead contact a moderator and ask him to "sticky" the thread if necessary. 14. If you see a post that violates any of these rules, please report it to our moderators using the "Report an offensive post" link. Do not play the role of a moderator if you are not one. There is absolutely no need to nitpick on the posts of new users. Let the moderators do their work. 15. Political threads, as long as they don't relate to digital multimedia or legislation related to the IT world, are not allowed on this forum. The world is full of political forums where you can vent your opinions, we don't want them here. I rather prefer that this is a forum where a person from country X can ask a question and get an answer to it from a person from country Y, whether the country X and Y are in war or not.
Hmmmm. Does your search bar say Google Custom Search like mine does when I follow rule #1? /Rule #1 don't talk about Fight Club...
You have got to be shitting me. Thats exactly the sort of crap post I'm talking about. The standard generic "I'll just post the rules and feel all good about it. Maybe they'll offer me a moderator spot so I can really f#%k shit up for others whilst still feeling all special about it". lol And it's this "I'm a wannabe moderator" attitude that is spreading accross all forums, not just afterdawn. It really really reeeeeeeealy shits me. /me takes a deep breath...done being angry now.
occasionlly i will point out that someones broken a rule not to try and be a moderator but because they made an honest mistake and so they have a chance to correct it before being banned or suspended.think he just posted the rules due to my comment earlier.probably trying to stir me up. edit: can't see how rule 1 was broken here.please explain????
