January 19th Update Has Prevented Me Playing Backups

Hi, my son updated his console today as it was mandatory and he was eager to go on CoD and now its impossible for him to play any backup game, he can still access all of my xbox live features, but any backup games he puts into the xbox it reads them, but wont allow any them to run.

is there anything i can do to sort it for him...

I'm trying to find out about this update too, I didn't accept it and thank goodness from what you're saying.

Do you know what mod he's using for the 360? If it's firmware what version does he have (LT+ etc)?

I'm sure there'll be a a s*** storm here any minute with people discussing it.

 

that's what i told my son.. even if we can't get his oxbox sorted at least we can let others know before the same happens to anyone else...

he said it was a sneaky little update that was only meant to put (boot from starting feature) on it


this is the exact wording

"On Wednesday, January 19, an update will re-enable the 'Boot to Disc' option. It'll allow you to set the option in System Settings to boot to the Xbox 360 dashboard or straight to the game in the tray when you power up your console.

I just read it's only affecting Call Of Duty Black Ops and Halo Reach for most people, has he tried any other games? Is he using a Jtag xbox 360?

Hopefully it is limited to certain drives and mods etc

 

The two that he tried were Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops ... He just tried Dragonball: Raging Blast and Borderlands and said they work fine..

i'm thinking they might work fine for now.. but if they have somehow blocked some games i'm sure the rest will follow

THANKS ALOT MANDY!!! although, once i see an update, i dont accept it unless i fully research the update. i KNEW they were gonna pull this AFTER x-mas after they made their money from the NEW console/kinect!!! i KNEW IT!!!! and my XBL JUST expired on 1/18/11. i prolly wouldnt've have thought twice if i wasnt expired.....wait, yeah i would've....^_^

 

AP2.5 checks are updated for those few games which makes sense as they are the most popular. Those with LT are being banned (xval failing). Those with LT+ are not.

ac has ap2.5 patched so it should work anyone care to test,i dont have my copy only original

 

So... AP25 is in the system now? Is that why abgx won't pick up AP on those games?

Looks like at least another month of no Live for the flashed consoles anyway.

That's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Maybe that's what carjen means though. Assassin's Creed 2 was not previously affected by AP2.5 and there is no patch for it.

carjen - If you meant AC: Brotherhood, just rip your backup with ImgBurn, run it through the latest version of abgx360, which will patch it, then burn the image back to a disc. You'll need LT+ for it to work.
