Hi, I am planning on getting a modded Wii while I am visiting here in China. They sell Japanese console usually.. but now some of them say they can change the menu language to English. From what I understand this wasn't possible as I had a previous japanese console. Anyone has any ideas? Supposedly when I looked at the menu it listed it as 3.2U..is it possible for them to install the U.S. version onto a Japanese console replacing the 3.2J? Are the consoles actually different from different countries or is it a just the system files that got installed onto the machine. I would like to get it in English, but I am worry if I get them to change it to English and I try to update the firmware online..it'll get messed up. Any thoughts? Thanks
My opinion is that you are just asking for problems by purchasing and modding a Wii from out-of-region. I had a friend that did the same thing. he had problems with his modchip. I opened it up, verified the modchip, looked at how much work it would take to research/repair/change to English. I closed it up and told him that he would be better off selling it to someone in japan and buying a US Wii and modding it. If you can't support it, you shouldn't buy it. JMHO. This forum is "littered" with the dead bodies of people who started out like you did.
Actually I have no problem with Japanese version....already have one I bought last year. I am planning to get another one and was curious about whether it's possible to change the system files.
There are anecdotal reports that it is possible. Several references on this forum and through Google.
