Ok I can't seem to find any info on someone having this issue. Just bought a jasper about 3 months ago. Everything was working find until 3 weeks ago when certain games starts to freeze. Not sure what it is. it's not the dvd drive because it freezes when i play it from the harddrive as well. Today I discovered that if I take the harddrive out of the system i get e68 error. If I put it back it loads to the dashboard just fine. I've heard of people getting this error because the harddrive went bad but to get this because there's no harddrive plugged in?? anybody experience this issue?
nevermind about the harddrive found out it's because I have the xsata device installed. it errors if you have it on with a harddrive. but I'm still trying to find out how to fix the freezing. It seems that certain games works find while other like wolfenstein, Brave, and tales of vesperia freezes during game load. I can play overlord 2 without any freezing. I'm not sure what the heck is wrong.
try googleing the problem and see if other people are having the same,,maybe your going to see red soon,,i have heard of jaspers rrod to,,thats the worst case,,
I actually rarely post questions in any forum and will only do so as a last resort. Therefore yes I have google and yahoo. All freezing issues that results from the search are related to RROD and doesn't quite match my situation. The only similar instance I found, no one had a solution and the final suggestion was that it was the dvd drive. it can't be the dvd reader because I've installed it to the harddrive and still freezes. I've actually fixed a quite a few RROD boxes and i've never had the RROD be picky and consistent with the games that it would and would not play. The issue is that I suspect it's the ixtreme 1.6 firmware and jasper because I'm seeing these freezing on more of the newer games. It's not a bad burn because I played the same games on my older xbox 360 and they work fine. I'm starting to exhaust all the usual possible causes. My next thing to try is to use a samsung drive flash it with the old xtreme 4.2 firmware (since it plays all games even patched ones) and see if that helps. I but i'm looking for other possible causes.
If it freezes during game loading then it's probably a weak laser. Why don't you just send it to microsoft?
I don't think they even check. You're better off sending it to them before you try anything else, the worst case scenario is they reject it.
I sent it in to microsoft and as long as you still have the sticker in front they don't bother checking. They gave me a new console (hopefully it's new and not refurbished) problem is I still had the issue after I flashed it with ixtreme. BUT I did find the problem and fixed it. So for people who have the same issue as me. the issue is the firmware ixtreme 1.51 and 1.6 has a fix disk speed of 12x. This is causing read problems with some of my disk. So the solution is to lower the speed and it won't have any many problems reading disks anymore. BUT fyi the liteon ixtreme firmware is encrypted so I'm told you can't edit the speed on the drive. I replaced my liteon with my samsung and lowered it to 5x and all is well PS. to slow down the disk speed you have to hex edit the ixtreme firmware.
um but you said you installed it to your hd and played it off of that so what would that have anything to do with the read speed?
I mentioned that I installed it on my harddrive and it still froze but what happened was because the read speed was too high it corrupted the HD installation. This was why it didn't even work even though I was loading off the harddrive. I had a hunch this was happening when I notice that all the games that worked without any issues were the games that I had install onto the harddrive prior to having this issue. a lot of the games that freeze keeps failing during HD install.
