I have one of these cards as well and didn't think the S/W was much good either. I am not sure it exactly the same model as yours, it sounds the same. I am having trouble recording TV and getting the sound to line up with the picture. Its quite good when live on the PC screen but you get a big delay on playback if you record to disk. Also my IR remote controller that came with the card doesn't work with the little IR sensor on the end of a short cable, does yours? My one is completely dead. Regards, John
Yes, mine all works fine, inc infra red remote, video glitches occasionally if the PC does something else, that's all. The biggest problem is the really crap program guide and station listing. The stations are all totally out of order, so you have to remember about 40 channel numbers.
I too have one of these cards. I'm sure they are also sold under the kworld and vstream brands. I'd also like to see better software, in particular an easy way of re-ordering channels. UK text and off-air epg would be nice too. The card appears to be based on the Conexant blackbird or stratford development kit, but there is no useful informaiton available to the public :-( . I can record from the card successfully, but I'm having sound sync problems after I have edited the saved video - anyone any suggestions? Thanks Peter
The software with this card is awful! Like you say, the card is great, but the fact that you can't change the order of channels makes it a nightmare to use. A quote on the Jetway web site (www.jetway.com.tw) made me laugh - "you can access channels directly by pressing the configurable channel number". Configurable?!?! I tried using ShowShifter (www.showshifter.com) to see if that would make things any easier, but it seems the card isn't compatible. I've also experimented with other ShowShifter-type PVR software, but none of it seems to want to play ball. If anyone finds some useful software, an updated driver or works out how to re-order channels, I'd love to hear from them charmer
Since this is such a cheap card and readily available, I am surprised that no enterprising individual hasn't started work on either fixing this or making some better software.
Hmm... I have one of these cards as well as a Hauppauge Dec2000-T. I am currently writing a scheduler application for the Dec and it might not be too difficult to add in support for the Jetway card also... I just need to know how to initiate the jetway card with the right params to kick it off recording. Any help here would be much appreciated! Oh, and the PVR scheduler I am writing autoschedules the programme to record by working with the FreeGuide java application. ZTT
I think the Linux guys have managed to make this card work, so the information needed to program and use this card is out there - I remember seeing some stuff when I was trying to learn about the card. I can't help with programming - My skills veer toward the screwdriver and soldering iron (ie hardware) end of things. I've managed to fix the sound sync problems with recorded and edited video with pvastrumento. Peter
Peter, What the hell is pvastrumento when it's about? I would like to know how you line up sound with picture. John
I too have had problems with sound sync. Seems to be a wrong implimentation of MPEG-2 standards, Nero highlights an error when transcodeing to burn a DVD-video. But Jetway have just released a new version (v2.13) of the software and initial results are good. visit http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/index.html
well at least there's that channel listing panel to the side now. Makes it much easier to skip to a specific channel without having to remember a channel number or using the Setup screen. Just need a slight update to allow custom channel ordering. Can't be that hard surely!
pvastrumento tidies up and fixes as best it can damaged mpeg files to try to make them DVD compliant. Files recorded 'off air' are unlikely to be perfect all the way through, particularly if more than a few minutes long. DVB display software will likely hiccup or pixellate over any errors but will carry on playing a live or recorded from off-air file, which is the intended behaviour. On a long recording from 'off-air' DVD playing software appears to gradually lose audio/video sync because it doesn't know what to do with the accumulated errors (unlike DVB playing software). DVD authoring software can just give up as timcrump above has found out because of the unexpected errors. 1113562 - if you start from the afterdawn home page and rummage amongst the utilities or do a google search you will find pvastrumento. These Jetway cards appear to be re-badged versions of a k-world card (look at the driver file information if you are using windows) - the 2.13 revision has been available on the kworld ftp site for a few weeks now.... Happy viewing Peter
Sounds like you have a problem with your installation. Mine records fine. I also have a Hauppauge DEC2000 running from the same TV aerial. I get no recording problems with that. One thing I have found is that TV aerial boosters seem to work great with DVBT, unlike analogue which usually just gets noisier.
I installed the software on my old PC with USB1.0 and it was jumpy. I have now installed it on my new WinXP PC and the picture is great. The problem I now have is that it won't record! I get the muxer error that eustud is getting. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling without success. I tried to install the new software DVB-USB.zip (downloaded from http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/download/driver/vga/index.htm) But I keep getting an error --"We CAN'T find any DVB-T USB2 Devices on your system" But is is installed and running and is USB2! Can anyone give me some advice? Thanks
I do not know if this will assist Generally Software should be installed before the USB device is first connected. So make sure it is unplugged and then removed from the devices under My Computer. Reboot. Then reinstall the software. Reboot and when XP is running plug in the USB device.
hi i ahve a card as well, i have downloaded the new upgrade and found that the computer hangs up when loading, i did a registery clean, and the computer loaded as normal, but there was no remote control feature for the card, i reloaded the software and restarted my computer and the hang up was there again. otherwise i am quite happy with the card, think it might work better if they put numbers by the programmes available. also have experienced some problems when recording tv over long periods of time, bit of picture breakup, just stopped recording and restarated.
hi just woundering if any one could help; im still having recording problems with my card, but when i change the 'Capture formate (profile):' to 'MPEG2 TS' it does recorde but when i try to open the file it will not open. iv tried: Media Player Nero Show Time Quick Time Real Player Power DVD also the 'Capture formate (profile):' to 'MPEG2 PS; which do i use and how do i get it to work?
