    Hi,
I have downloaded a movie consisting of 2 DVD discs. My burner Plextor DVDR PX-750A) is capable to burn DVD-9 discs. I would like to have that movie on one DVD-9 disc.
How and with which program can I do it (in not too complicated way).
    Thanks in advance

If they are dvd files, then you might consider using the trial version of dvdfab platinum. It has a merge funciton for combining 2 disks onto one.

Thanks for your prompt answer; however, it seems I asked a wrong question.
What I actually want to do is to burn a DVD-9 consisting of two parts : Disc1 & Disc2 (and not to join the two discs and then burn them into a DVD-9).
I opened Nero BurningRom. In the "New Compilation" window I selected > DVD > DVD-Video and clicked on "New". There appeared a window entitled "ISO1_DVD - Nero Burning ROM". After dragging into that window the folder containing disc1,there appeared there all the files of that folder. Next, when I tried to drag into the same window the folder containing disc2, there appeared messages that certain files of that folder are already included in the compilation. Anyway, even if I could drag into the said compilation all the files of disc1 & all the files of disc2, I would not get a DVD consisting of two parts.
Please, help me to solve that problem, namely : to create a DVD consisting of two parts.
    Thanks in advance

If you want movies only, you can use DVD Shrink as suggested earlier. They will be 2 separate movies.

Hi dialysis1 and rtm27 and thanks for trying to help me.
Unfortunately, so far it doesn't work, and I should say that it is very frustrating.

I almost succeeded with DVDFab Platinum's Merge function, i.e. according to that program the merge succeeded, however the burning failed. I was asked whether I wish to try burn again, I selected "yes", however this time too the burning faild. There appeared a message suggesting to download the latest version of the program and to try (burning) again. I didn't do it.

As to DVD Shrink (version 3.2): here is what I have tried to do with it and I had no success:-
I have a folder with two sub-folders : Disc 1, which consists of the Video_TS folders of Disc 1 and Disc 2 , which consists of Video_TS folders of Disc 2. I opened DVD Shrink 3.2. Since in my case I don't have a disc or disc image, I clicked on "Open Files", selected the Folder "Disc 1" and clicked on OK , whereupon I saw in DVD Shrink's window the DVD Structure of Disc 1. Next I clicked again on "Open Files", selected the Folder "Disc 2" and clicked on OK. This time I saw in the DVD Shrink's window the DVD Structure of Disc 2 only (and in the lower part of that DVD Shrink's window I saw a picture from the begining of Disc 2). To make sure that DVD Shrink dealt only with Disc 2, I clicked on "Backup" and, indeed, at the end of the process I saw in the Target File the Video_TS folders of Disc 2 only.
Hope you can help me to solve that problem and thanks in advance

The problem is that 2 DVDs will have duplicate file names. In order to merge the discs, you will have to modify the IFOs on Disc 1 so that the movie will be 2 parts long or author a new DVD.

Either option is rather long and would require some type of guide. I don't remember if I wrote one on the topic, but I do not have the time to write one for you...

The thing I can try, is maybe patch your IFOs so that you would be able to merge the discs by simply renaming Disc 2's VOB files and dragging them into the Disc 1 VIDEO_TS folder. It's been a while since I have done this, so no guarantees. Also, I would have to rebuild the menus and this can possibly take some time. Your call.

As for software that can do this, DVD Remake Pro can do it. IFOEdit I believe has an option to merge 2 Discs, but may require further editing.

Hi JaguarGod and thanks for trying to help me.
Naturally I would like you to patch my IFOs, thereby enable me to merge the discs as you explained. Do I have to send you for that all or some of the IFO files, and if so, how can I send those to you ?
I understand, of course, that it may take some time.
    Thanks in advance

DVD Shrink in the Re-author mode will take care of it. You simply drag the main move to the space on your left. Then open the folder that contains the other movie and drag that movie to the space on your left. You will now have 2 titles. Change your compression for DVD-9 if compression is needed. If not, then just save it to a new folder and burn with ImgBurn only so you will have the correct layer break.

Hi dialysis1 and many thanks for your extremely prompt (and it seems helpful)respons. Still, there are some things I don't understand :
    1)
AS I mentioned, I have know to folders: one with disc 1 and another with disc 2. When DVD Shrink in Re-author mode - after drawing Folder of disc 1to DVD Shrink's window I saw there : Disc 1 Main Movie 3,477 MB and Extras 0.04 MB. However, after drawing the Folder of disc 2 I saw on DVD Shrink's window only the details of disc 2 Main Movie (3,104 MB and extras 0.04 MB).
    2) You suggested to change the compression for DVD-9 if needed. Well, since in this case I intend to burn the movie on DVD-9 disc, I prefer not to compress. However, I would like you to tell me, how do I change the compresion, if I want to. In the preferences?
3)The last step you suggest is: then just save it to a new folder and burn with ImgBurn , however I don't see in DVD Shrink any "Save" option.
    Thanks in advance

    yes in preferences

it would be create an image to the HDD, then you can burn with imgburn

however if your burning to a dvd-9 and don't need to compress the file you may not need dvd shrink, you can burn folders with imgburn heres a guide

only thing it may not work(imgburn) using two folder , I've never tryed it.

    dvd flick might work also

I done a quick test to see about ImgBurn working with more than one folder and that did not appear to be a problem. However, when it tried to construct the image tree I received an error similar to the problem that JaguarGod refered to in his post. It told me that I had files with the same name and gave me the name of the bup. file. I ran short on time, so I could not troubleshoot this any further than the error message.

if so ferguj1 then you would have to transcode with dvd shrink first before burning with imgburn

I think that the method proposed by dialysis1 would be the easiest method if the compilation is what stibi is trying to achieve.

    @stibi,

I would have no problem trying to create this DVD for you. Here is what I will need:

    - ALL of the IFO files, including VIDEO_TS.IFO
    - All the menus

For the menus, they are probably too large to send, so use Menushrink and compress the menus to still. This way, it is easier to work and it will not be a problem combining the menus on both DVDs.

I will send you a PM with my e-mail address. Just send the files to me through e-mail. Use 7zip or similar and put them in a .zip folder. Depending on how things go, I may end up making a guide for you guys.

    Hi dialysis1, rtm27, ZoSoIV, JaguarGod,
Thanks for trying to help me. I will send the neccessary files to you, JaguarGod, and I shall respond later to dialysis1's suggestion using DVD Shrink. Right now - further to one of my previous message about having dificulties to burn with DVDFab - I just wish to inform all of you, about an absolutely strange phenomena : When I finally succeded to burn with DVDFab the two merged folders, I got a DVD which is not playable on my PC (with PowerDVD or with any other player), however it is playable with my DVD machine(incidentally, the reason I couldn't burn before is, that I have chosen DVD5 mode instead of DVD9 mode). I tried once more to merge and burn with DVDFab the same pair of folders, however, the results were the same! I have experienced and read in the past that some DVD machines didn't "recognize" burned discs, notwithstanding that said discs are playable on the PC, but not the other way around. I should add that when said disc is in the CDRom and I right-click on the CDRom > Properties, it shows zero for both : used and unused space. Would you know what can be the raeson for that phenomena ?
    Thanks in advance

Hi dialysis1 and thanks for your prompt response. I will, of course, try to use the guide you recommended; however I would like to know whether this means that everytime after using DVDFab's Merge I will have to go through the same process ?
    Thanks in advance

DVDFab's merge should do the same thing which I don't have use for. When I do a merge, I want 1 title so I merge with VobEdit.
