I have a DVD that I downloaded that I would like to add custom menus and stuff to. What I want to do is take the VOB files, and join them to one video file. Then I would like to use Ulead DVD Workshop to author this DVD. My question is this...How can I join these VOB files (keeping the video DVD compliant while able to use the resulting video file in DVD Workshop) without any quality loss? Thanks in advance for any help.

You can Do this in a few ways...If the DVD is an Image you can Mount it on a Virtual-Drive and then use a Ripper Like SmartRipper or DVD Decryptor to Rip the DVD as a single Big VOB file instead of a Bunch of Small VOB files....

You can also Join all of the VOB files into One Big DVD Compliant Mpeg-2 file without any Quality Loss useing a Native Mpeg/Vob editor Like "Womble Mpeg2VCR" or of you want More Full featured Timeline editing the "Womble Mpeg Video Wizard 2005" is probably the Best Native Mpeg/VOB editor on the Market.....

I have a old Beta version of Womble Mpeg2VCR arround here somewere that was Free when it was released a couple years ago that works pretty Good so if you PM me with your e-mail address I will try to round it up for you and send it to you......

    Cheers

Actually, I have a registered version of Womble Mpeg2VCR v3.14, so that shouldn't be a problem. How do I go about joining the VOB files into a DVD comliant Mpeg-2 file with Mpeg2VCR?

I just read the file information for the VOB files, and its audio is as follows:

    Channels: 6
    Sample Rate: 48.00 kHz
    Bit Rate: 448 kbs

I am guessing that it's surround sound. How would I keep this audio with these settings (eg. being able to burn the DVD with surround sound)?

It is easy to join the VOB files into One Big Mpeg-2 file with Mpeg2VCR...

Run Mpeg2VCR and go to "Tools" to "Video Clip List" and a window will Open up, at the Top Right click the Browze button and navigate to were the VOB files are and select all of the Vob files But do not load the "VIDEO_TS.VOB" file because it doesn"t contain any video...

After you have loaded all of the VOB files into the Window and are Listed in the Correct order then click the "OK" button and the window will Close and a new one will appear with your Video Displayed in the Window...Scan through the File to make sure the whole movie is there and when you are ready to save it as a New Mpeg-2 file you simply click the little Yellow and Pink Button second from the end on the Right on the Bottom Row of Buttons under the Preview screen, OR you can simply click "Z" On your Keyboard...

Now in this new window you just select a File Name and Directory at the top and then click the "Save" button at the Bottom......

In a few Minutes you will have a Mpeg-2 file saved in the Directory you selected that you can load into DVD workshop and author to DVD...

    Cheers
