I converted a movie using ConvertX , they were downloded in two halfs when i burned it, it played fine on my computer but the first half will only play on my DVD player Dan
use the free avidemux to join your 2 files. open the first file then append the second file. avidemux will join both files without reencoding, takes about 2 minutes to join without losing quality. It's what I use when I have 2 files, you can also check the "joinpoint" and do some editing in that area if neccessary. http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/screenshots.html
I tired Avid and when it converted the file to my desktop the file does not have a file extension attached to it ?
Avidemux doesn't automatically add file extension, you need to add when inputting your saved file name, ie "My Movie .avi". Or rename existing file.
Join the 2 files you d/loaded with Avidemux. You can save as is (presumably AVI), then burn as data disc. Or convert the joined AVI to DVD format and burn. Hope that helps.
I figured it still had to be converted was just hoping somehow it was converted at the same time it was being joined. I know there is a program that will let you join 2 pieces and encode at the same time i thought it was ConvertX but it didnt work, i wonder if DVD Shrink will do it
convertx2dvd will do it, but when I used it, there was a slight delay when playing the 1st and 2nd video file. I didn't have the time to figure it out after trying numerous times to get it to work. That's why I use avidemux to join the 2 files quickly, then convert the resulting single file using convertx2dvd. Works great and with avidemux I can edit the place where the 2 files join, sometimes they are not in proper sequence (example 1 or 2 seconds of file 1 is also on file 2). Dvdshrink probably won't give you the results you want.
