Hi, recently got two avi files and converted them to MPEG-2. How do i join/merge both of these files together? I've tried some various programs but havn't been very good. Thanks alot, Callum.
There are a great many programs which will join your files. Easy Video Joiner and Avi Joiner are two payware programs. TMPGEnc can join your mpg's but only mpg. Here is a guide using VirtualDub (free):http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/14/59/
My suggestion is to join the AVI first with VirtualDub, [bold]then[/bold] convert the joined AVI to MPEG-2 (read my FAQ to learn how to correct, should it occur, VirtualDub's error '...the 2 AVIs have different framerates'). Otherwise, you must author a DVD merging 2 movie segments with DVD Lab (Connection___Add___Movie segment). I don't know any other application which can do it for you. This way, there's no distinction between the two AVIs (which aren't movies, but 'segments' of the same movie, instead).
Hi again, thanks for the replys, i'm trying the easy video joiner atm, and i if i get no luck ill try with the origional AVI Files, thing is, it took over 5hours to convert both of them... ------------------------------------------- Tried Easy Video Joiner with my Mpeg files and sais the files are invalid. Looked on there site and it said they must play in Windows Media Player - which they do. So im trying the AVI files right now, so far so good. ------------------------------------------- Back again, Worked with the AVI files, BUT, didn't work very well! No Sound, and when i skip the movie i can see two pictures at the same time. Any suggestions? Thanks, Callum.
I use TMPGEnc (10-15 min) (never failed) or my encoder to join files. I have used Avi Joiner in the past with good results but, since a reformat, it no longer works. Support said it was a codec issue but nothing was changed. Many people use VirtualDub and aldaco 12's framerate fix, if need be. I used VirtualDub and received that error before a fix was posted, so moved on. Here it is, in case you use it:http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/309635
