I had a number of jpeg files (photos) which I never had any problem viewing. Now they are listed as jpge#~ files and I'm unable to view them with any programs I have. Also I'm unable to find that file extension anywhere. Help!!!

Download Irfan Viewer -- It's FREE and it will open those files possibly after warning you that they have a bad extension and suggest to correct it for you !

    It's HERE :- http://www.irfanview.com/

First off I can't say that what I'm about to suggest will work as I have never encountered this particular problem. If you haven't already done so you could try to reassign the .jpeg extension to your photos. Open Windows Explorer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and uncheck the box for "hide extensions for known file types", then click OK. You probably have done this already since you can see the file extensions. Now right click on one of the photos and select rename. Change the extension to .jpeg or .jpg and see if this makes a difference. Best of luck.

    Tried renaming them. Didn't work.
Copied them to a disc and tried viewing them on another computer. Didn't work.
One thing I haven't mentioned is that on files I am able to view the name and dimension and size is listed. On the files that I can't view the name and size is listed but not the dimension.

Thanks for the replies so far.
