When a thread goes into multiple pages, could a page counter/link be added to the thread itself so you can jump right to the last page if desired? Some forums have this feature and it's much appreciated by those of us with slow dial-up connections. Sorry if this has been discussed already. I searched, I swear.
Ummmmm... Doohickey, guess what?? That function already exists at the top and bottom of every page on a multi-page thread... Have a look at this thread: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/54508 Look for the page number links.... Hope this is what you were looking for. Have Fun...
Drchips I thnk doohickey means a page number link, for each individual thread, at the forum sub menu level. I may be wrong though... It would help me..ive only got dial up.. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Why are The Samaritans always engaged?[/small]
Yes, What Brian said is what I meant. I just ran across this while reading this forum: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/44733 Someone else did ask this question before...and explained it a little better than I too, but it went unanswered. Have a look
To clarify....I clicked the link you gave. It took 16 seconds for that page to load just to get to the page number links. And like Nik99 points out, if you reply to the thread you have to go thru the procedure again to get to your post. Couldn't that same page link feature be added to any multiple-page thread right along side the thread title itself? Actually, I know it can..other forums do it.I just have no idea how much of a hassle it might be to impliment.
This is doable, but I'm simply worried about the fact that it might slow down the loading of individual forum front pages (forum_view.cfm pages). I'll take a look..
