first of all, want to thank you both for your help.
i bought a box from a computer fair last night. the seller said i just plug it like any cable box.
from the start menu, i select 'english'.
then i go to auto installation(have tried on all networks).
then when searching for channels, the message 'failed' shows each time.
can't get anything and i aint a clue what to do!?!

    Hi
Im having the same problem. Got the starview 3 from the company in the UK. Have plugged it in and downloaded 184 channels - no probs so far however I can only view the 4 Irish channels. All other channels are showing scrambled or bad channel. Im obviously not doing something!!

When I press menu I get the screen - installation, parental control etc but 1570 is not being accepted. Should I have downloaded something from the PC first??

Thought so!! Okay in the box there is a sheet of paper that says 'loading software to the box super'. It is a grabadownload guide - I assume that is what I have to follow and then try again?

You will need version 7.09 firmw@re for THE SUPR B0X found in "THE B0X SUPR" firmw@re folder. (UFL = Unified Firmware Loader / All In One )

    http://www.4shared.com/file/53494857/dc1111e2/GTRom_Super_709eBETA.html

You will also need W1nRar to extract the file to your desktop

    http://www.4shared.com/file/28733441/7c4273a7/wrar35.html

    Updating Firmw@re

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTRom_Super_709e Loader from your desktop and make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used.

Make sure App file only is selected

Run the loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC.

Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE p0p up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE.

    The Starvi*w will then reboot

Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV :)
