Hi everyone l just bought this TV, delivery date is next week oops here is the link http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/televisions/product.asp?model=50HM66

the main uses for this tv will be dvd watching ( buying an upconverting player in 2 weeks ) and video games ie: X box 360 and or PS3

    My question is

#1 is it a good tv??

#2 lm gonna be running mt sattelite feed to trhis using standard rca jacks will this be a problem???

lm not technically illeterate l live in a small community ( in Canada ) and the closest major competitor with a wider selection is over an hour away, just looking for peoples input on this bad boy

    thank you

should look great the toshibas are a good brand. DLPs are a little brighter than LCDS or the Plasma but are over all a great picture. i like the Plamsas a little better for the reason the pictue is a little warmer looking but there lots more money

Well to start with looks like a nice TV.
By mt do you mean mytheater? And are these the jacks you were thinking about using?

If so do not use RCA jacks (The old yellow, red and white,)as this will look terrible on your TV see if your video card has DVI then get a dvi to hdmi converter and hook up to your tv (unless your tv has DVI in but it didnt say so on the website). Also if you are getting HDTV channels with mytheater then this would also be good. Maybe you wont need all this if you are not getting hd channels with my theater, but dvi would still make it look better (i think).
    Just my 2 cents.

svideo would make it a little better but still would not be very good (depening on how picky you are about quality) , is this an fta box or do you pay for satelite? I suggest getting a better box with component out or HDMI even. What good is a HDTV without HDTV channels :)

l pay for my satellite bell expressvu but l do get some dish network channels ( as per canadian legislation it is a grey market ) so for me too get a hd box for my bell sat is alot of $$$$$ lm not too picky about the quality running a sat it more of the dvd quality lm concerned with.

PS l am going to buy an upconverting dvd player very shortly any recomandations???

Well from what i hear pansat is making a FTA box to work with the HDTV channels on DN. so you mihgt want to look into that. As for dvd quality HD-DVD and BLU-RAY players are already out (at around half the price of your tv) and you might want to look into one of those when the price falls down a little bit, as for upconverting i do not know much about it so someboydy else can probably help you there.
