Ok sorry the questions I'm gonna ask are probably really dumb. But I've searched everywhere for the answers, only to come up with stuff from 2002 or 2003! And on some of the forums back then they said they didn't believe you could hack GC at all! So anyways, I've hooked my computer up to my Gamecube to play games & what not. But the other day I noticed MiniDVD-R's! And well bought them not thinking duh! I only have DVD+ Writer. So my big question is before I go out & buy a DVD- Burner, is that if I do burn Gamecube games to MiniDVD-Rs will the work on my GameCube? Or do I have to do something special to it? I download the ISOs & every NFO just says unrar, burn & play basically. So is that's all there is to it?? I don't need a ModChip or a new case or to hook it to my computer or do some swap trick?
Please any info on this simple topic would be very very helpful, and would weigh heavily in my decision to purchase another burner. And again sorry if I'm like the 2,188th person to ask this.

How old is your burner? Most burners are able to write to + and - R, I know mine can.

The new chips available for the cube can allow both media (that i'm aware of, correct me if i'm wrong) I personnaly use Maxell and Fujifilm dvd-r's they're cheap and they work.

As for downloading games I have'nt cause I have dial up but when you download a game if it's a .rar file then un rar it, make sure it's exactly 1,459,978,240 bytes, if not then there is a program called fstfix that will make it the right size (otherwise the gamecube wont accept it). There are softmods around that allow you to play burnt games without a modchip, but they're slow and a pain in the butt. Just invest in a chip and rent games cheap, hell borrow games from friends :D

My DVD Burner came with my computer. Not sure why it's not both +/-.

Yeah I got about 20 ISOs all of them are 1,459,978,240 bytes.

But the question still remains. Can I just burn them on MiniDVD-R's & they'll work? or do you really need a chip or to Mod it?

you dont need the chip if you're going to stream the game via phoenix to the gamecube and use the PSO exploit, but if you want to burn the ISO's to dvd and play then direct then yes you need a chip

Yeah problem is someone wrecked our PSO.
So best thing to do is say screw the MiniDVDs & just get my Gamecube chiped & then get a new top for it so I can put regular size DVDs in?

you can still use the mini dvds after you chip your system, it's just a matter of choice
