Have you reinstalled the drivers for your sound card ?

that would be the best place to start

also, make sure your speakers are not muted - that one got me for about 2 days once <wink>

are you running with onboard sound or a sound card
if you have onboard sound and a sound card make sure you have selceted the sound card in the bios (that 1 got me to)

i think i use onboard sound....i just bought the pc and pluged the speakers into the jack with a speaker pic next to it.......and i went under the control pannel to the sound place and it doesnt give me sound control or anything (its faded out) so i know its not muted.....and when i try to play a music file in window media player it says it has no hardware to play it.

    I think Esirnus is right.

I have w2000 at home but I did this today at work on my XP machine where I had the same problem:

StartMenu/settings/ControlPanel and then selected System, then the Hardware tab then Device Manager. Under the SoundSettings it be should be flagged if there is no driver installed. If so then clicking on this will start the driver install wizard which should solve it.

Or you can probably do this from the 'sound place'(under the Hardware tab) in the control panel.

    Good luck.

mine is abit nf7s mobo, and you need to install the nforce2 driver. you didn't get any cd with that mobo ? if not try looking for it at the manf. site.
