It took all day,but I backed up Sentinel. Why is this happenning? Every movie I try to backup now is taking forever.Errors with Shrink, with Decrypter (ANYDVD always running). It used to all go so smooth.Even when I get a backup that works, there's a problem with just copying the backup. Are there things that can go wrong when the computer is a few years old? Is it just the new schemes their using? It's so aggrevating to backup a movie anymore.Sorry,I just had to vent!
I think the computer specks are ok,it's the error after friggin error when using Shrink or Decrypter.Like yesterday,it took me all day (-a football game) to back up Sentinel.I used Shrink,Decrypter and FixVTS,all while ANYDVD is running in the backround. They have all worked smoothly before, but lately it's error after error.I eventually get them to work by just starting over and over and then suddenly it works. The computer is now and always has been this Sony P4 2.8 WITH 512MB.One other thing that is so annoying is whenever I get an error in Decrypter I can never just stop and exit the program, nor can I push the button and have the DVD burner open up so I can get the disc out.I have to manually shut down the computer and restart it,then I can retrieve the disc and start over.Worst of all I took the time and watched my football team get it handed to them again.Stick a fork in the Steelers, their done.
Is DMA turned on for the burner. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 You can check DMA if you run Nero Infotool and look at configuration.
Yep,I just checked and everything there ok.What I mean by taking so long to burn is the many errors that pop up in both Decrypter and Shrink causing me to have to shut it all down and start all over again.Eventually when it works I've not done or used anything different. It's just that all of a sudden Decrypter and Shrink, for some reason, decide to work right and the Dvd is burned in a reasonable amount of time. And like I said, when I get an error in Decrypter,I can't exit the program it won't shut off and I can't get the disc out.I have to manually shut off the computer then start it again, then I can get the disc out of the burner.I don't expect anyone to solve this problem,I just needed to tell my story to the world.I'm just venting my anger because it used to work so smooth and now it's a giant hassle to backup a movie.
Should be able to shut down the Decrypter process with the Task Manager. I suppose everything has been defragmented and checks made to make sure no unpleasant guests have taken up residence.
Most of the time Task Manager will shut it off,but then the computer locks up and I have to manually shut down.Even when T/M does shut it down the burner will not open to get the disc out. When a error occurs it has to be manually shut down and started up again, this is part of the time consuming part. Then almost as if by magic everything works right and the burn is made and all is well in the world.Someday I'll fiqure it out,I just don't think it will be anytime soon. Thanks for listening.
