    HELP ive been spending hours just trying to play normal shop bought DVDs on my work laptop.

    i have windows media player.

    i just want a simple dvd codec/decoder to play via windows media player
    OR
    a cheap nasty FREE player from net.

    i have downloaded the ELECARD player from this site, cant seem to play the DVD, but can select individual VOB files!? why!

    Then tried ARPA KOLLA player, also downloaded from this site..this says it is a standalone player however it gave message

    "DVD video playback graph could not be built due to insufficient decoders" then when i press ok continually gives me " interface not supported" and i have to close program through task manager.

    i have downloaded various supposed DVD codecs like i have a "power DVD Mpeg 2 Dcoder" when i install this, i get different series of messages from ARPA KOLLA as follow;

    "No combination of intermidiate filters could be found to make the connection"

    then

    "the video decoder cant be shown as closed captioning on video due to a problem with graph building"

    then

    "cant render one or more stream".

    I have also tried codecs from FFD show? not sure what this is exactly (whats difference between codec and filter?)

    If i go to Start>RUN and type "DVDUPGRD /Detect"
    it shows a DVD decoder when i install the power dvd as above, and shows none when i remove it

    coed is "clvsd.ax"

    what i want to achieve isnt complicated is it!

    I also have DivX player installed.
