I downloaded Ichi the killer with burst! (bittorrent, [DivX JAP Sub ENG] Ichi The Killer.cdx.uncut.avi) and it's 2*700MB (about). I was just wondering why do people "release" these movies as 2 700MB avi's? What an earth I do with those? First, why ain't those SVCD's (for example)? and second, why not 1 1400MB file? Cuz now I have many 700MB files on my hd and have no idea what to do with those. Converting to svcd takes time and burning to cd makes no sense to me. So there must be something I don't get right. What is it?
DivX can have superior video quality and much less file size then a comparable SVCD. If you have 2 files in avi format you can merge them using TMPGEnc and re-encode them to SVCD or DVD if you want to and retain the great quality. Yes, it will take more time and result in a larger file size but it will look a lot better then starting with a 1.6 GB SVCD movie.
