If you do a Test Tone signal from the remote, do you hear any sound?

    Do headphones work?

    Thanks for responding wither
I do not have a remote for this receiver, also I do not the adapter for the head phones to plug into the receiver jack, I did test the speakers on another receiver and they worked, I am wondering if the receiver setting are not right

The only reason I knew about the remote was because I was looking at the manual for the receiver. I'll have to look again to see if there's another way to generate the tone. On my very old Pioneer tuner, all I have to do is flip a switch.

Did you get this receiver from someone else?

I can't use that link because it's on your computer. However, I'm using the online manual. It's for the vsl model. I don't know which one you have.

What is the sound source for the unit? As far as i can tell, the receiver is like the pre-amp on my stereo system except the receiver also includes the amplifier, and you must plug some sound source into it, e.g., a CD player, tuner, etc.

The model number on my receiver is RX 5042 , the speakers are plugged into the receiver and the receiver plugged into the wall

The title of your post says it's a 5032. Must have been a typo.

As I alluded to earlier, have you attached a sound source such as a CD player, DVD Player, etc. to it? Although it has connections for a tuner antenna, I really can't tell if it has a built in tuner. If it does, have you pressed the FM/AM button?

    Wither

Can you look at the picture I attached in my first , you will notice there is a right connection and a left one , I have never seen this before , is this important for connection speakers , could this be a issue that is causing my problem

For some reason, I'm not getting notifications.

What you see there is standard. You would connect the speaker that is on the right side to the Right and vice versa for the left. I assume you're attaching bare wires from each speaker to the plus and minus terminals.

    Hey wither

I found found time to look at this, issue, i have given up on the JVC and I am trying to hook existing speakers which were hooked up to my Yamaha receiver
I had them hooked up via the AUX RCA connection but cannot remember where the other end went
I know this is hard to follow

Are you trying to hook up the speakers from the Yamaha to the JVC? You said you had given up the JVC but it's not clear what you're doing now, as you acknowledged.

No I am trying to hook the speakers through the Yamaha receiver , if I remember I used the AUX connection on the receiver via a RCA cable and I think I connected the other end of the RCA cable to the cable out of the TV , again I am not sure
