K-Lite codec distorts .avi movies

    1. Installed XP / SP2.
    2. WMP9 plays some captured (Hauppage).avi files fine.
    3. WMP9 has no sound for a few downloaded (National Geog.).avi files.
    4. Sound driver and WMP9 re-installed - same error.
    5. K-Lite 3.9.5 Mega-pack installed.
    6. The missing sounds come back.
    7. Captured .avi films now show green speckles/Moire patterns.
    Impossible to view.
    8. Wonder! Any answer/solution?

    Download VLC meadia player. IT is freeware and plays anything for most people perfectly and has quick load times.

    Why install such an old K-Lite pack ?, the latest is 4.8.0.
    For me (across various PC's) VLC distorts videos, but K-Lite has never caused me any problems, been using K-Lite Mega codec pack for donkey's years.
