I am thinking of installing k-lite & quicktime lite. Does quicktime lite need to be configured or do you just install and forget? Same question for k-lite? If they need configuring is there a guide, I can't find it if there is.

I get mine via the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack, select 'Lots of stuff' on the install, then hit enter a few times, then in the immortal words of Gordon Ramsey - 'Done'.

When you install the Mega pack (that's the only one i use btw) you're asked which bits and pieces you want to install. I only ever pick 'lots of stuff' from the choices. One of the reasons i use the codec pack is to not care about which bits to install/not install :)

It's an install choice. Just install it already :)

I don't configure any of them, i suppose it depends what you're trying to achieve. I only use the pack as i wasted much time (before i discovered the codec pack) messing about configuring various separately installed codecs. Have been using K-Lite for some years across various machines and don't have any issues, all media types i've needed to play have done so fine ever since i started using K-Lite

No problem, you'll see how simple it is once you've installed it.
K-Lite is regularly updated so i'm always updating my machines, no issues at all.
