Hello everyone, I'm definitely new at this, so I am not familiar with what to check for when a burn fails. I've been having problems with coaters lately and I though my problem was solved after I purchased a different brand of Media. (When from uisng Memorex to Verbatim + R DL 2.4X up to 8x Speed)After I burned succesfully 5 Verbatim discs, I'm again having "burn fails". Could someone anylize my log and let me know what I'm doing wrong or if I have the Nero set up wrong? Thank you guys very much Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 10/26/2004 11:35:32 AM Nero API version: 6.6.0.19 Using interface version: 6.6.0.10 Installed in: C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\ Application: ahead\NeroVision Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 19b Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-810A> Version: 1.0e - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.6.0.19 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : MAXTOR 6L080L4 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DRU-810A atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616 D: CDRom0 SONY DVD RW DRU-810A E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 74448896 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 511MB (523276kB) Free physical memory: 202MB (206932kB) Memory in use : 60 Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 15.8.2006 NeroAPI 6:47:38 AM #1 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 272 Last possible write address on media: 4173823 (927:30.73, 8151MB) Last address to be written: -1 ( 0:00.-1, 0MB) 6:47:38 AM #2 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 284 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 6:47:38 AM #3 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2494 Recorder: SONY DVD RW DRU-810A, Media type: DVD+R9 Double Layer 6:47:38 AM #4 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 450 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 6:47:38 AM #5 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 4531 Frist possible LBA for Layerbreak: 1893024 6:47:38 AM #6 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 4532 Last possible LBA for Layerbreak: 2086911 6:47:38 AM #7 SCSI -1066 File Cdrdrv.cpp, Line 1183 SCSI Exec, HA 1, TA 1, LUN 0, buffer 0x04746C00 Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR) HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK) TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND) Sense Key: 0x05 (KEY_ILLEGAL_REQUEST) Sense Code: 0x24 Sense Qual: 0x00 CDB Data: 0xAD 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x08 0x04 0x00 0x00 Sense Data: 0x70 0x00 0x05 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x12 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x24 0x00 6:47:38 AM #8 CDR -1207 File DVDR.cpp, Line 5383 Book Type automatically set to: Current recorder setting 6:47:38 AM #9 Text 0 File DVDPlusRW.cpp, Line 659 Start write address at LBA 0 DVD high compatibility mode: No 6:47:38 AM #10 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 1010 Estimated filesystem size: 544 6:47:38 AM #11 Phase 36 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276 Burn process started at 2.4x (3,324 KB/s) 6:47:38 AM #12 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 1704 Buffering files started 6:47:38 AM #13 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 1415 Buffering VIDEO_TS.VOB 6:47:39 AM #14 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 2580 Finished buffering file VIDEO_TS.VOB of size 122880 bytes (60 sectors) 6:47:39 AM #15 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 2647 Finished writing file VIDEO_TS.VOB of size 122880 bytes (60 sectors) 6:47:39 AM #16 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 2660 Buffering files finished successfully 6:47:39 AM #17 CDR -1205 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 1859 Burning Layer 1 6:48:07 AM #18 Text 0 File BurnAtOnceRecorder.cpp, Line 677 Reserved fragment at 0. Hi howdou1it Not a whole heck of alot wrong. Firmware up to date, good amount of memory. From the log though it looks like the drive doesn't fully recognize the dl disc. Only shows that you are using a [/i]DVD+R9 Double Layer[/i]. No media code for the verbs listed either. Nero is failing burning to the 2nd layer. Here's 2 suggestions: Roxio doesn't always play well w/ Nero. Uninstall Roxio and run the zap tool to remove all traces. http://kb.roxio.com/content/kb/EE6000061 http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml Try ImgBurn(free) for burning to dual layer: http://imgburn.com Since the files are not an iso you'll need to use the build mode to burn to DVD. Here's a guide: http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?showtopic=1780 Try that and keep us posted.
Thank you so much Binkie7, I will give the imgburn a try and will unistall Roxio. Hopefully I'll be burnin again in no time.
Hopefully that will do the trick for you. DL coasters are a little to rich for me :0) Keep us posted on the outcome - good, bad or otherwise.
