I'd like to air my observations on the current problems we are all having with the multi key changes our respective cable providers are carrying out nightly. I'm a bit of a collector of these boxes & I own.... 1.. eurovox 2.. starview 3.. THE BOX 4.. replay lite 5.. Kryptview. 6.. Dreambox500c (my personal favourite) 7.. eurovox TX (MMDS) The key change problems started on Thursday 3rd April, within 24hrs a firmware update (fix) was released for the Kryptview & ever since the Kryptview has coped with all the multi key rolls the CC has thrown at it & updates it's self without an interruption to your viewing or worst case a few seconds. The eurovox fix does not seem to cope well with the multi key changes at all, the eurovox can be "updating please wait" for most of the evening, hours in fact !!, quicker to revert back to manual key input. The starview firmware fix handles the multi key changes quite well & updates far quicker then the eurovox. THE BOX is not affected in any way by the current ECM's (key changes) & so just keeps working without interruption. The replay lite, well this was one of the first of these type of boxes to come on stream & has very little support in the way of new official firmware so it manual key input at the moment. The Dreambox, this box is the one I use, it works in a different way to all the other boxes, I won't elaborate on how it works but at the end of the day it unscrambles digital TV channels like the others,a solution for the dreambox was also available within 24-48hrs & has worked 100% with no interruption to viewing ever since. The eurovox TX, true(MMDS) box, this little box has carried on working without interruption with no need to input keys. To sum up, basically the eurovox needs far better firmware to enable it to deal with the multi key changes taking place at the moment, it's not steping up to the mark !!
Wouldn't agree with your observation on the Eurovox max box Lenny, seems to update fairly ok as far as I can tell.
not in Dublin, it's taking upto 4-5 hours, I'm in touch with many owners & they all have the same reports, the max V is coping better than the older versions but still can't match the others I mentioned, keeping in mind that last summer it was the starview that collapsed with a key update issue whilst the eurovox & dreambox was unaffected.
Lenny I do agree with you have a eurovox max and codes need to be entered manually for the last two weeks, codes today were updated twice
did'nt check as yet, the dreambox keeps a log of key rolls but some say 5 key changes in Dublin tonight
I'd agree that the eurovox takes it's time updating codes in Dublin. Not 4 - 5 hours mind, but a good 5 - 10 minutes. Interesting to hear that some boxes have no interruption in viewing at all, I might take a look into the Dreambox.
New tutorial 1. You will need relevant software so that your box can be fixed properly. Dream up, Flash Wizard. Dreambox Control Center. Extract the file and autorun the program. A small box will appear with the relevant software. http://rapidshare.com/files/109770655/DreamboxForEver.rar.html 2. Now you need this image i have FULLY WORKING! This is a flash wizard file and need to be flashed through the flash wizard program or through Dreamup . PLACE THIS IMAGE ON YOUR DESKTOP. EASY TO FIND. Flash Wizard Image: http://rapidshare.com/files/110539401/dwemptyautoroll.fw2.html Null Modem Image: http://rapidshare.com/files/110539456/dwemptyautoroll.img.html 3. Now that you have downloaded the WORKING IMAGE. Connect to your dreambox via DCC. You will need your Dreamboxes ip address for this. If you do not have it and have an image already on you box. Go into the setup, expert, communications. Your ip address will be in here. 4. Once you have connected to the dreambox. Open Flashwizard. Go into configuration and ultilies at the bottom of the box. Make sure the ip of the dreambox is the same as the one in dcc. It should be. If not change it. Now Click Install a Firmware to flash memory. Now you will need my WORKING IMAGE. You downloaded above. Click the open folder tab. Browse for the image. Should be on your desktop as instructed above. Click open. The image should now be visible in the box. Now click flash image backup. This will install the image to your box. Takes approx a minute. Once completed reset the box. PLug into ur tv. And try. It should now show that the flash is installed. Do the scan using your area. For example Uk or ntl ie etc. Once the scan has finished check your channels. TRY SS1 FIRST. If you dont have the channel. Reboot box. This time the evocam should startup and will roll the channels. This is the simplest way to install this image. If this doesnt work or you have problems connecting to your dreambox you will have to go down the null modem route. Please leave me a message if you have problems with this. Null Modem Fix: You will need a program called dreamup. http://www.dream-multimedia-tv.de/download/DreamUP.zip Then download the image. The null modem one. Save this to desktop. You need to plug the null from the box to pc. With the dreambox switched off start up dreamup program. Then untick use network box. Then click connect. Startup the dreambox. It will connect. The flash box will then open. Click this it will ask for image. The image you downloaded open that. Then it will flash the image to your box. If asked to flash erase click NO! Then flow the rest of the procedure mentioned in previous posts. Thankyou Chris
Hi,anyone give me the flashing and updating channels link for the new firmware(including autoroll feature) for the Black Diamond "The Box" please?
Press blue button then ok on evocam. youve got to wait at least a minute when you select channels. If you null modemed the image then you shouldve and mustve clicked no to flash erase. If no reflash
There are a few new images out that will sort out the Dbox, but it needs you to do a bit of searching as you may need an image that is already set up for your area/provider to make it easier
