    Hi,
I have been getting coasters from the last we weeks now. I have been burning with the same drive on same disks for more than a year now. Never had a single coaster. But all of a sudden, not a single disk is getting burned. The disks I am using are Ridata DVD+R. I thought they are good, because i have burnt more than 30disks from this set.

My dvd drive is Cyberhome DVDR/RW DX162D-A. I don't see there website anymore as I wanted to check if there is an updated Firmware. Please help. I am copying the LOG from the last time, intially the drive complained to put an Empty disc (it had a new disc). I put the same disc back again, and then it started burning and after about 10% it failed. help please...

It is recommended to have a minimum of 512 mb RAM to successfully burn DVDs , I would suggest you add a further 256mb, in the meantime do NOT multitask while burning.

I dont rate these as top quality discs, I recommend Verbatim or Sony (made in japan)

I am trying to locate firmware update, as soon as I have one I will post it.

    Thanks for the response Gwendolin.
do you really think memory could be the reason. Because I have used the same machine for last 2 years with this drive. And I never had any problems. I even tried using CopyToDvd, DVD Decryptor, ImgToolBurn and DVD Shrink to burn using different methods, and they all are failing. Sometimes i get Session Fixation Error..

I will add the memory on the machine soon. Meanwhile, can anyone check if I am using the correct Firmware for this Drive. Is this drive not in production anymore? I don't see their website!! I checked on some other sites but all the firmware available seem to be older than what I have.. I found 140F, but currently I have 170F.

I am guessing the Firmware is outdated and not compatible anymore!

One question for the experts: Are these firmwares updated to be compatible with the new disks or is it the new softwares such as OS and other stuff that needs updated firmwares??

    Thanks guys..

The firmware you have is I believe the latest. To answer your other question, YES, some of the older burners will not handle some of the latest DVDs so you'll have to stick the the ones that have previously done the job for you in the past. Good luck.

Burning is Memory intensive and I would recommend the upgrade.
