Hey, sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section, but it seemed the most appropriate.

My friend has an Acer TravelMate 2350 laptop, and it has started displaying Keyboard Controller Error at startup, then the computer will freeze at this point and tell you to press F1 to continue (I know, sounds like a bad joke). The keyboard is completely unresponsive and we obviously can't get the laptop to boot into XP.

The laptop was working fine one minute, my friend was playing a flash game, and suddenly, his keyboard stopped working. His mouse still worked and the computer responded to that. He ended up restarting and now we get that error. I had a look at the keyboard and made sure it was still connected to the motherboard, but I'm all out of ideas now. Is the motherboard totally buggered or is it just the keyboard? Would affixing a USB keyboard stop the computer from hanging on boot?

    Any help would be appreciated

You might try disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard...Sometimes the contacts just need to be re-settled.

Thanks for the prompt replies. I did check the keyboard connector on the motherboard and even unhooked it and reconnected it, and it didn't do any difference. I can't really get hands on a usb keyboard to try and see if that works unfortunately.
