my keyboard doesnt work. i either use my school computer or copy and paste each letter in words and sentences. its a compaq keyboard, its not usb, it came with the computer, and every time i turn on the computer, the lights flash but it doesnt work. please help
Do you have a different computer that you can test the keyboard with? This will let you know if it's a bad keyboard or if the PS/2 port has gone bad on your computer. Either way, a new USB keyboard will probably fix your problem. If it's just a bad keyboard, then you could use a PS/2 keyboard. Some computers will let you change keyboard settings in the BIOS, so check your BIOS to see if there's an option to disable the PS/2 port.
i dont have a different computer. i think its the PS/2 port because i have another keyboard doesnt work. i cant afford a new USB keyboard. how i check BIOS on a xp?
When you first turn on your computer, you should see an option to enter setup. It's usually a key such as DEL or F2. Once you enter the BIOS, you'll see sever menus where you can view the settings and make changes. You can also consider purchasing a PS/2 to USB adapter.
