I just got in receipt of the A780 from Skywonder but reading threads it suggests it needs to connect through to a router. This has confused me a little as I cannot see no ethernet connection at the back of it. I do have the A780 as thats what it says at the front and got it from Skywonder which appear to be quite reputable as there mentioned here quite a bit. Am I missing something?
Sorted. Problem 1 - i'm a newb it was covered Problem 2 - fixed by connecting directly through to a PC as oppose to a USB to RS232 connector. Could be a dud component.
Hi, I was downlaoding the file when i noticed the CONNECT box in the CODE SEND BOX was COM 2 or 3 so i cancelled it, tried to do it again COM 1 and it comes up DOWNLOAD NOT REQUESTED any advice please?
I just connected directly without the USB to RS232 connector. The only thing I never did when I connected the USB connector was that when I changed the com settings I didn't reboot as thats what it appears to say on the instructions on the above link. You can try that.
Thanks for that it downloaded it succesfully. Just home from work and done aauto search for the first time everything seem to be going ok, see all the familiar channel scrolling up and down, after it was done, tried putting it on sly spports and other good channels but it comes up ''scrambled or no video'' only have a few channels bbc, itv, cbb'c, ceebies not many to be honest? What have i to do now?
Hi Sam, Bit of a thicko regards this sort of technical stuff. All i have done is plug the Viirgn cable in the back of the box like i did with my previous eurovox. Have not a clue what a ethrnet cable is? Please explain as easy as a-b-c to me, cheers.
I realised after raising this thread that at the back of the KryptView there is a black sticker covering the ethernet port. Remove that sticker, its found next to the VCR scart socket. You need to plug one end of this cable: http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-8125.aspx in to the Kryptview and the other end to your router http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/networking-77-u.html I've purchased a home plug http://www.google.co.uk/products?hl...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CE8QrQQwAw and waiting to use this as part of my connection so I don't have ethernet cable from one end of the room to the other. You may want to do the same Hope this helps
Hi Sam, Thanks for reply back, the latter of the 2 would probably suit me i think, as i have a router upstairs in with the pc, my son put this in to use for his laptop, my tv is downstairs so this would be akward would it not to run a cable upstairs to downstairs? Would i still need a cable of any sort for the latter to connect the adaptor/plug to the box, which one is it i need to get is it the Homeplug or the Netgear Xetb1001? And if i had a second box, would i need to buy another plug or could i work 2 boxes off the one plug/adaptor? How would this affect my sons laptop if/when i do get this all up & running? See i told you i am a bit of a thicko!!!
When you buy a home plug make sure it comes as a pair i.e. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/191930?utm_source=google&utm_medium=products As per the description in the above link "Simply plug one XET1001 into your router and another XET1001 into any Ethernet-ready device 1" Therefore, if you connecting a second box you need to buy another separate plug (you can buy individual ones). The choice of plug does vary, i've bought these http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00267Q3...de=asn&creative=22206&creativeASIN=B00267Q3SI but haven't tested them yet since I missed delivery and won't able to pick them up until Friday due to work Although the ones you mention in your post should also work.
I should have said the Netgear model you mention is a home plug or can be referred to as a powerline network adaptor and will work. Most likely you should get some ethernet cable with the plug if not you will need to buy some that will run from the router to the plug (thats the first plug) and then another ethernet cable from the second plug to the Kryptview. Ethernet cable does vary in size (1m, 2m, etc) so you can pop to maplins or any store to pick some up depending on what size your after. Here's what you looking for: http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=45889
best price i have seen for twin pk home plugs http://www.amazon.co.uk/Twin-85Mbps-Homeplug-Ethernet-Adapters/dp/B000SO94FA
Im getting there i think...Right the Netgear XETB1001 you say you already have, you then say your picking up the Belkins, can i ask are the netgears not that good? And if i was to get another box, would i just need one additional plug, and i would say it would have to be the same as the first two? Re the plugs themselves, they come in pairs normally do they, and are they both the same as each other?? cheers!
Thanks e45 for the link, do you know if they do them in 3's, as my post above i am hoping if i were to have 2 boxes eventually would i need 3 plugs in all? One for Router 2 for 2 boxes?
here ya go single only looks like they only sell twin or single to be honest i would buy two twin pks ya never know ya be able to use it for your pc or something http://www.amazon.co.uk/Solwise-Homeplug-Ethernet-Adapter-Single/dp/B000I7J85I/ref=pd_rhf_shvl_1
Couple of friends who had eurovox and are thinking of getting 780 box, but what if they have no router? Would they have to buy a router as well? And regards my own situation, once i get these ethernet plugs bought, would i have to rescan the box? Or will all the channel just come on?
