I have a Kryptview, having previously had Starview and Starview2 boxes. There is absolutely Zero EPG available with the Kryptview (in Dublin).. I note that ebay sellers say the EPG is fully tested in several UK cities ... no mention of anywhere in Ireland. No EPG is a big downer as you can't even get info on current program. Has anyone had any success with EPG in Ireland or are there any firmware updates available ???
This issue is currently been looked at and should be resolved shortly. Best bet is to ask TMC at taoilormadecircuits as he will be able to give you more info. He has also set up a new site here http://www.kryptview.co.uk/ you will see him on many forums.
I have a Kryptview and am trying to download bin file Kryptview Software v1. I have set the com port to the correct settings and when I press Start followed by red red standby, I get message "The downloading is not requested" and nothing more happens. Anyone got any ideas
Hi Leche50 - where did you get the software - been searching for a couple of hours but seem to be getting no-where can you post a link or send me a PM
i recently bought kryptview but would not install after downloading software, and got it from a guy i trust. alot more work needed on it?!
KRYPTViEW_ArnEt_loader.exe http://www.sendmefile.com/00594950 Kryptview_22102007.zip http://www.sendmefile.com/00594951 This is the latest loader and firmware, (Beta).
I'm using the RS232 cable that came with and connecting it to the laptop. Com 10 is being assigned, and I set the bitrate to 115200 and all other settings as advised.
Sounds like you are also using an adapter. To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow these instructions: 1. Go to the Start Menu 2. Right click on "My Computer" 3. Select "Properties" 4. Click on the "Hardware" tab 5. Click on "Device Manager" 6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)" 7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter/null modem cable is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.) 8. Go back to the loader and make sure it is looking at the correct port. 9. You should be able to download firmware once the correct port is selected.
I am connecting the RS232 cable to the laptop with a serial to USB adaptor. Device manager sees this as Com 10. I have changed the loader to tell it to look at Com 10 (it defaults to Com 1) When I press start in the loader, and press RED RED STANDBY (as advised) the message "The downloading is not requested" appears. This message isnt very informative. I can get no further.
What message is not "informative"? As you should change your port settings in device manager not the loader.
The loader defaults to and expects COM1, but Device Manager says this is already in use, and shows my RS232 cable being connected to COM10. So I changed the default in the loader to COM10 and then got the error message. Can I force the cable to be on COM1, and if so will this effect whatever is already using COM1? How do I find out what's using COM1 anyway?
Follow my advice to step 7. Locate your USB converter (port 10 as you said. ) Right click on that port and select properties. Then select port settings, then select advanced. At the bottom of that tab will be a drop down box with the port selected (port 10 in your case). Use the drop down to select another port (eg 1, 2 or 3). If the port you want to use is already allocated to something else, you can use the same procedure to reassign that port after you have finished. Save the selections in the usual way. The USB converter will be permanently assigned to the port you selected. Sorry but I have to leave if you have any more problems just post back.
if anyone can help me, by giving me instruction on how to scan a Kryptview reciever. i have tried scanning it in auto mode, selecting network: telewest, and then channel type: all. Using this method i am recieving some channels, i believe that i can pick up more channels using an alternative method, this is where i am struggling. can someobody help. Thank you
If your in the UK - Try this Auto scan, Network (choose ure provider), Press OK Channel search (ALL) press yellow TP search this displays a list of Area providers, choose the one nearest to where you live. press green to Start search leave until search is complete, this can take any thing up to an hour or more. When this is complete, go to a scrambled channel and leave the box on, the box will then pick up the keys required - This can take anything from 5 mins to an hour or two, depending on the CC and signal, In Ireland its a different matter again to the above
