Kryptview problem flashing resolved

Have been having trouble trying to flash a kryptview this evening, this box was bought brand new and when I removed the lid the cable from the db9 socket to the motherboard was made incorrectly.
I'll post up a picture later to show incase anyone else gets a dodgy one as i'd be sure that more than one left the factory that way

Well it is a db-9(de-9) socket. rs232 is just a standard for serial communication.

you are totally going to confuse people with that best tp stick with what they are now rs232 ports

also what was the problem with your box you have not said and if possible show us the photos thanks

and a brief description of what you think should be fixed on the item ?

 

2 of the wires were soldered wrong, I'm going to post the pic when I get home

Theres a picture of the back of one of these box's on another thread, and it even says "rs232" port. If the labeling says RS232, and people are looking for DB9, it can be way too confusing to follow.

Just trying to keep it simple, as most newbies on here are clueless anyways.

You would be surprised how many "newbies" know what a DB9 mean. RS232 is a standardised term for data rates over a serial connection. DB9 is an exact term to type of serial interface.

Anyway lol
If you are 100% sure you are flashing correctly and you are still getting the error "downloading is not requested"
Open up your box carefully making sure not to damage the screws and check the following

This is the way the box was shipped to me(unopened/factory sealed)

Cheers on the back of the D9 there are numbers corresponding to pin out. Could you assign them to pin number versus cable ident to molex plug please.

Looks like a botch job in the first place, my Granny has better soldering skills.

Sorry for the crappy photos, just thought it might save a few people some time any money, I was 100% sure I was flashing correctly and this box just wouldn't flash so I opened it up and that was my discoveries

Cheers Ferg & Cathal. Pin 1 is ground 2 and 3 are RX/TX or vice versa TX/RX.

Sorry for all the questions I am not near my box. Pin 1 should go straight through to pin 1, but are 2 and 3 straight through also or crossed over?

Cheers Ferg nice one Look like a local retrofit But with the correct pin out you cant go wrong, well sometimes lol.

Overall its a sturdy box compared to others. Oh and nearly forgot it works

 

yep and works quite well as all the channels can be seen now lol
