"bloke in the pub stuff" alert here. But I got an email from a guy where it was mentioned some seller might be selling the KV with an guarantee the channels would work up until xmas. Has anybody heard of such a thing?

He also mentioned they were €140, when you can get them for €105 delivered to Ireland. (is anywhere cheaper?)

It would be a good selling point, or to have a some sort of refund/rental thing. i.e. buy from a UK site, N3 comes out, send it back and they sell it second hand and give you a partial refund.

the guarantee in a big grey area on any of these boxes, the whole dodgybox scene is a bit of a delboy game anyway,. some sellers state that loading new firmware to the box void's the warrenty anywa & as we know there no good to you without the firmware(catch 22)it's best to fined a reliabable seller & ask what his warrenty covers,

NOBODY WILL GIVE A WARRANTY ON SOFTWARE THE ONLY WARRANTY THAT YOU GET IS A HARDWARE WARRANTY NOTHING MORE AND NOBODY CAN GUARENTEE THAT ANY BOX WILL STAY ON NO MATTER WHAT BOX IT IS

You might get them for £105.00 if your box breaks or anything goes wrong with it after 7 days you will have to pay firstly to send it back to the Uk at a cost of about €15.00 and you will also have to pay another £15.00 to have it shipped back to Ireland so the £105.00 has now ended up with you paying £135.00 and be without a box until they either fix it or replace it if you buy from someone in Ireland at least they will replace it for you and they will have the cost of shipping and waiting for the replacement so its actually swings and roundabouts

so you have to consider all aspects of it

Buy your box with a credit card, that if the seller does not replace a bad box you can get your money back from the bank.

They would be taking a risk and charging a premium, just a similar concept to insurance. An insurance company will charge X amount to insure your car for the year in the hope you do not put in a claim. Its just a gamble really.

I am not talking of blokes in the pub selling them, e.g. a legit established online store could offer it. The other thing I mentioned about taking it back and giving a partial refund would be a very good selling point. I know plenty of people considering buying a box but are just worried it could go down next wee, and it would be hard to get rid of with bans on ebay.

The one sticking point with that would be the amount of people who cock up their boxs themselves, I mean in theory it is a different angle to offer the punter, but you would be heartbroken with the amount of boxs being returned by people who brick them or everytime the screen jumps, mail and ring with never ending complaints, Some people create posts here if a chan goes off for a day, but its a different angle and selling point if you can cope with the onslaught

MICKAH..a bit off topic but picking up on your point about people starting new posts for little or nothing I often thought that there should be a way to almost force people to search older threads for the answer to their questions before starting new threads, i should think that at this stage every question possible has been asked & answered here many many times, how about a 1 week waiting period after joining before you can post a question or start a new thread, that would give new members plenty of time to search the forum for the answer they need.

I agree to an extent but a lot of people come on needing a fix straight away which is understandable.

a lot or nearly all of any issue has been covered already, a simple search will get the relevent post, and if something like a firmware issue arises, they can read the posts,

wonder where the mods are now, people speak about going off topic, this one is well off topic, and nobody jumping up and down i see.

I wonder, is it one rule for one person, and not for others.???
