    Hi movies27
I don't have the movie, just wondered if seanjohn1 was able to back it up. It was ripping slow but he did not state the results. I am in region 1 (US).
    regards

I'll let you know when I back it up [bold]next[/bold] Tuesday when it comes out. Heard it was pretty good...will have to pick it up. I'm assuming if you have the latest DVDD 3.5.4.0 it will b/u fine.

I'm using dvd shrink, and it won't go past the menu's. It stops at 9%. So I'm messing around with dvd decrypter to find the main movie files.

Suggest trying AnyDVD, if you don't currently own it download the free trial (21 days) from www.slysoft.com. If it doesn't work disable AnyDVD, copy the IFO files, zip them and send to Slysoft using the contact information on their site.
    regards

I just bought this movie today. It was on sale for $14.99 at Circuit City (hope it's okay to say that). Backed up no problem. Decrypted in about 15 minutes. Halfway through the decrypt., it sped up to about 16x read??? Burned at 4x and everything is fine. File size of movie only is about 3.6 gigs so no compression used. Lots of extras though.

This, by the way, is one TERRIFIC movie! The characters are a hoot, the visuals are astounding but don't count on a solid plot. I wish now I would have seen this at the theater. It's one of those rare movies you'll watch twice in one night. Loved the 'Landlady'!

    Enjoy.

    Kung-Fu Hustle? AnyDVD & CloneDVD2, Main title
Time to perfect back-up, 15 minutes, 40 seconds. Try it, you'll see.You may have an application hang with any other program. Sony! Same issues as "Hitch".

I ripped with DVD Decrypter with no problem. Now I can't compress. I get a invalid data file error with dvd shrink. Instant Copy trys to find a file that doesnt exist. No idea what to do now.

Try CloneDVD2 an see if it can handle the DVDD files. If not try riping/compressing/burning with CloneDVD2 and AnyDVD running in the background. You can download fully functional 21 day free trials at www.slysoft.com. If you like then you can get $10 off by using promo code 'afterdawn' when purchase is made.

I just ripped and burned this dvd "successfully" but it took forever. I did the whole 7.55gb with dvd decryptor (took an hour to rip) then I used Roxio 7 to burn it, which took an hour to "transcode" it (compress, I assume) then it took the usual 15 minutes to burn.

I first tried it with dvd shrink but it got stuck at 9% as mentioned by someone above.

My question is did it take so long because the dvd was so large(7.55gb)?

I like the way dvd shrink rips to an ISO file. Dvd decryptor doesn't seem to do that. Am I missing something? Any suggestions?

I've long since given up on using dvdxcopyplatinum for anything.

    thanks,

Click Mode/ISO/Read and DVD Decryptor will rip to an ISO. Make sure burner is running in DMA mode rather than Pio to keep speed optimal. Newer protection schemes take longer. Running AnyDVD in background would be the way to go, bypassing need for Decryptor to rip. With AnyDVD can go right to open disk with Shrink, reauthor if you wish, save as ISO and burn with Decryptor.

Took 20 min to rip w/DVDD; 6 min to encode (full movie only); 15 to burn.

I used Shrink w/Nero, and AnyDVD running in the background. It copied the whole disc, without a problem................
    Good luck!
