i downloaded lame 3.97beta from the lame project and i cant find the lame_enc.dll or install the files into windows xp.. how do i install the 3.97beta files i downloaded... i dont see a setup.exe. also when i try to install the lame_enc.dll into audacity it doesnt find the file it needs i downloaded the lame 3.97 beta files from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=290&package_id=309
If you haven't used the Lame encoder with Audacity before, Audacity is supposed to ask you where you've saved the file( LAME) the first time you export/save an MP3 file. Tell Audacity where it (LAME) is saved once and that is it. You don't do it anymore. If you've updated from an earlier Lame encoder, I would suggest deleting it and it should force Audacity to ask where the new one is. Make sense?
3.97 final is out now. Still the fact is that lame only release source code. You need to compile it or download a binary from somewhere else.
I still use the older version of Lame 3.96.1 and it serves me well in Audacity. Downloaded final 3.97 and have not installed it yet. I'm under the impression all Audacity needs to run Lame is "just" the file "lame_enc.dll" which is in the new download. Am I wrong in thinking this?
audacity is looking for lame_enc.dll and in the folder of lame 3.97 there isnt a lam_enc.dll file what am i suppose to put in audacity
I downloaded mine yesterday and I'll be danged if I remember "exactly" from where! I may have downloaded from the links at Audacity. I remember it was a Zip file and there's a lame_enc.dll there. BINGO....I remember! It was from the Software offered here....DOH. It was from the second download site not the one that has the dot......the lower one. The top one didn't work when I tried it so I got it from the second site. Try that and let us know how you make out.
