Hiya guys =) I'm new here, and I'd like to thank most of you and your very helpful posts that helped me along the way to mod my GC =D its just a bit of problem I'm having here now.. I got Qoob Pro and its working like a miracle ^^ I've got some ISOs from places that I can't discuss here ( is that rite ? ) one game that I burned works nicely, its just that its in French !! Now I know that GameCube games is divided into PAL and NSTC region stuff, but is PAL version of the game automatically chose the language depends on the BIOS ? Or is there any way we can change or tweak around the BIOS and thus change the in-game language.. ? I'm just a bit curious of this.. any of you got the same problem and were able to get around it ? thanks lots !!! =D
As far as I know, the language is controlled by the game itself. So if you get a Japanese game, the game disc only contains the Japanese text and voices. The BIOS itself could not change the text or the voices to be english. It would be sweet if that could happen, but if the game is French, it is stuck French. Now the cool thing about the Qoob Bios at least, is that if the game is PAL region, the BIOS can force the video mode, so I can at least play the game. Hope that answers your question.
yeah... some games like Eternal Darkness have multiple language options so I thought I might be able to do something to the Cube to "unleash" that feature.. but oh well.. >_< looks like I'm stuck.. and djrazor, I'd like to stop the download straightaway if I had known its in French, but the stupid filename only says NGC PAL and left me alone wandering whether its ripped from either Europe or Australia, and Australia's version for sure in English. Bad luck for me. BTW djrazor, can you PM me any trackers except BlackCats, MiniNova, PirateBay and TorrentReactor that have NGC games in English.. ? add me in MSN or mail me at : vassili_zaitsev_77@hotmail.com cheers,
well if it's an rpg it's unlikely to be in multiple languages cause there's a lot of text. But a lot of games where just the menu has text are the exact same version in all the pal countries. If you set the language in the original bios to yours, the game will be in that language if it's a "PAL multi". (For instance Mario Kart DD is the exact same version all over Europe)
The bios doesn't affect the language. The game does. The bios has no control over the language, period.
Considering the bios pretty much goes into a "Freeloader" mode when it's running, the bios has no affect on the gameplay. The only thing it affects is the video mode if you decide to force it. I've played numerous PAL games on Xbox and GC on my NTSC consoles running in forced video modes and regardless of the bios I run, the game always controls the language since I've managed to get stuck with a copy of Jade Empire that played in about four different languages without supporting English.
well, maybe there's a difference between us-ntsc cubes and pal ones. i got a pal cube chipped with a qoob pro. when i change the language from german (which is where i live and where that particular cube's from) to english for instance, and then boot a game it is in ENGLISH. and as discussed before this doesn't work with all games. only the ones that have that feature built in. (as i said before this works with MarioKartDD.) It won't work with wind waker for example. whatever language you set the bios to, the game will always be in the language of the country where you got it from. now maybe if you put a pal MarioKartDD into a chipped NTSC cube this doesn't work. because of what you said. but if you take a NTSC one and put it in your cube it should work. (at least if you got a qoob chip. otherwise i don't know.)
