Having Virus and program issues with my laptop. I have run avast and ad-aware and removed everything found. Avast had found a Win.32 Adware-gen and some other trojan types I can't remember. I have no use of my mouse on the laptop, avast won't update new virus data and the laptop tends to bog down and lock up. Below is my hijackthis log. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. I have 4, you, on the other hand have 43. Go to start>run> type msconfig> go to the startup tab and uncheck the things you dont need. I did some for you in the HJT log.
The viewpoint files you told me to delete cannot be deleted because they are in use or I do not have access to delete them. I am also unsure about what you mean by fix these in the HJT log. If you or someone else could give me some more information I would be grateful. Mike
what I mean by fix them in HJT is put a check next to them and then click "fix checked". Try fixing the viewpoint ones in safemode.
If the laptops been in use for a year or more your better off reformatting (basicly good house keeping so to speak),if you don't have the xp-vista disks look in your ALL PROGRAMS list for words like PC HELP,RECOVERY TOOLS etc,or on the boot screen it'll say recovery options and the key to press will be shown at the bottom of screen, the options once you've started the recovery console will be 1- system roll back 2-system recovery files will be wiped but will keep data files intact including all 3rd party software folders but software will need to be reinstalled 3-system recovery everything is wiped back to factory settings In any case if you ever do a reformatt, before connecting to net install your most used programs first it makes them faster responding (object desktop can be installed after updating the OS),then head over to microsoft update and don't leave till you have all your updates (best to use windows update not auto update),windows update is located in the column that's above the all programs menu, make sure your firewall is enabled before connecting to the net at this point you don't need antivirus untill OS is updated or if you don't feel confident just install the antivirus before hand EDIT: You'll need to save any data to rom or you'll lose it,but you'll need to do a spyware & virus scan of the data or the rom before putting anything back in your comp
