My laptop yesterday began making a funny noise so I shut it down and the next day I attempted to start it up again. The comp will come on and work then it will just shut down I just dont know whats going on with it.

you may have a failing fan sounds like it's overheating and to protect the system it is shutting down. Before you boot up again open the ram panel and make sure all your ram sticks are firmly in place then open the hard drive panel and do the same just some simple trouble shooting to eliminate possiblities, then boot up and check if you have good airflo from the fan. If it's working and still shuts down I would if still under warranty consult the manufacturers help & support, you may also need a bios update most manufacturers have extensive online & free chat support for your specific model. I would try every free option before taking it to be repaired as it can cost as much as purchasing a newer faster laptop which is exactly what I do when mine get buggy after warranty has expired and sell my old one on Ebay I usually walk away with a profit not a loss.
