Well, I've been having this problem long time ago, and can't seem to fix it.
Ok here goes, well I'm just playing some games, and browsing on internet, then after a little while, the computer just shuts down unexpectedly, 2 times to be exact.

1st: Shuts down after a little while.
2nd: Shuts down sometimes when desktop appears.

Help me with this. Btw my laptop is Dell Inspiron 1525.

    Ugh. Nice!

When you say shut down, do you mean it literally turns off completely? or does it reboot?

If it's shutting down completely then its possible your problem is either heat or electrical. If it's heat, it's possible that over time the heatsink used to cool off the CPU has gathered so must dust and hair etc. that the fan in the laptop cannot cool it off properly anymore, which means eventually the CPU will reach a critical temperature and the system will shut down.

What you can try to do is use a temperate monitor to see if it can read the CPU heat

    Try Speedfan first: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/system_tools/system_information/speedfan.cfm

Remember, if in Windows Vista or 7, right click on the SpeedFan icon after install and click "Run as Administrator", so that it can access any temp sensors available.

If your laptop reboots, then that's a different problem. In that case, it is likely that Windows is carrying out a system halt because something has gone wrong in memory. Either the memory itself is going bad (or potentially the HDD) or there is something behaving badly in your memory (either malware or a bad driver... the latter not usually likely on 64-bit Windows but not unheard of).

Here are some steps to help you diagnose the problem if the system spontaneously reboots (as opposed to the power completely going off).

Go to Control Panel - System. Go to Advanced System Settings (might be slightly different in different versions of Windows) and then when that window pops up, click Startup and Recovery. Disable Automatic Restart and click OK.

From now on, if the system halts, you will see a BSOD (blue screen of death, or black screen in Vista/7). From here you will have to figure out if you have a hardware or software issue.

To test RAM, you can create a bootable USB or bootable CD of Memtest86 to run a memory diagnostics test...

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/system_tools/misc_system_tools/memtest86plus_exe.cfm (Auto-Installer to USB)

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/system_tools/misc_system_tools/memtest86plus_iso.cfm (CD ISO)

You will need to boot from CD or USB (usually tap F12 on boot screen, or tap another key if its specified) in order for it to run. As a general rule, if you get ANY errors, you have a memory problem.

If your problem is hard disk related, then you might be able to find clues in the Event Viewer in Windows. It's in Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Event Viewer. Look under Windows Logs - System. If you find any disk-related errors, then you might have some problems with your hard disk drive.

If your problem is software related, the only thing you can do is first check the crash screen to see if any particular file is blamed by WIndows for the problem (usually with a .SYS extension). If not, then your next bet is a crash dump analysis. We'll get to that if its completely necessary...

It's shutting down completely. And Speedfan doesn't have any help. It freezes my entire laptop, with no choice but to hard reset.

sounds like it is locking up\freezing instead of shutting down being you have to use the power button to turn it off, correct?

No, ddp, it's locking up/freezing when I'm running Speedfan, my original problem is in the first post. It just shuts down unexpectedly without prior warning or locking up/freezing.

if its locking up and freezing just running speedfan then i dont think its hardware related.how are you on maintaining your computer?regular spyware scans, virus scans, disk cleanup, and defrags?

Yes I always do that, spyware scans, virus scans etc.
The speedfan is what Dela suggested, so I tried it, but for some reason, it freezes my whole computer when I'm running it, but that's not the issue here.

to make a long story short, check fix on all your other entries that end with file missing.it almost looks like you are using some kind of optimizing tool like win utilities due to the inordinate amount of "missing files".if you are i would stick to something more simple like ccleaner.if it was me i would also get rid of "internet download manager".also post a new hjt log.

Here's the new log. I fixed the file missing somethings, but when I scan again it goes back, is that a normal behavior? And also, I don't install any optimizers here, I only use CCleaner and stuffs. As for IDM, I need that because downloading via browser is slow, and download might go haywire.

Still having the problem. Oh and btw, how can I clean the cooling fan? I think that's the problem, because I used a cotton swab only to found out it's dirty there.

depends on how dirty it is.most times you can clean the fans with a can of compressed air.on really dirty ones ive had to remove them.dont forget if the fan is that dirty the heatsink is even dirtier.sounds like you could be on to something here.post back with the results.

Heatsink are fine, I always clean it 2 times a week. But I can't find some Can of Compressed Air, selling here. I'm not living in U.S or etc. Seems like the option is to remove the Fan, but I'm not quite experienced on inside computer jobs, other than heatsink.

Update: Things got taken to a worse now. It's now getting stucked at Dell Loading Screen, then it'll follow up with a restart. Can't even access the options selections, like the
"3 Safe Modes and the Start Windows Normally" Options. Help me with this.

Before this happened, I was just watching some movies, via VLC, then it restarted, and now its like that.

EDIT: It's now getting past the dell loading screen, but another problem has sprouted out.
It will shut down on windows loading screen, it sounds like a hard reboot when holding the power button, when it restarts. There's like a 1/10 chance it'll get on the login interface, But it'll shuts down also there, after a little while, can't access desktop, because, before I even type my password it'll now shuts down. Same thing is happening on Safe Mode, it'll shut down when loading the drivers.
